What vintage/classic/retro/old school cars have you actually set down on a race track? Whether it be to race, practise or even just bash I wanted to start a thread for those of us who have been brave enough to get these off road buggies back in their natural habitat ( ).

Please, post some pics of the cars you actually use or have used at a race track in recent years and get us all revved up and inspired to make that leap of faith and get these things dirty.

I've been racing a Cougar 2 against modern opposition for a few months:

And my boy (and I) do a bit of bashing with an original Hornet (with squash bottle shell):

Been hitting the track (well it had a pretty good 25 year hiatus  ) since December, 1984:

I own a few "vintage" cars that I've raced, but that's when they were still new  (RC10, RC12L, RC300, RC500, Trinity "Magic Carpet Ride" and RC10GT)

Since returning to the hobby two years ago this is my only old RC that has seen any track time...

First run after a ground up rebuild. Novak 13.5. Notice the damaged front right camber link.

I forgot to replace the zip tie on the front with a rubber band and landed awkwardly off a jump and snapped the camber link.

DOH!

LRP Stock Spec 10.5, SXX V2.2 (for now) Futaba 9550 servo and Futaba 1024 PCM rx with a old Futaba PCM 1024 tx, geared 21/81 and Reedy batteries.

I'd go back to nicad and brushed in a classic class though-

How competitive was it 8rad? I have a couple of Bosscat Works and a Sport and intend to rebuild one for competition at some point.

I wouldnt dare race it unless it was a vintage class. Not for fear of breaking it just because the local racing scene is pretty competitive. Theres a bunch of sponsored guys who would just embarrass me.

If I were to race locally I would start in SCT and move up from there.

Aside from some original creations I've put on the track several ultimas, MR4-BC, kyosho plazma, YR-4, hot-dog, Academy wyvern, academy griffin.
(That's all I can think of right now. Pics are in my gallery ,and in the threads linked inside the gallery).

Still need to get the MX-4, TCP, optima, optima mid, lazer, triumph and some hirobo done, and a corally 1/12 and an SG prosso. But that'll take some time, and with the others working well, those have become an extreme low priority: I don't want to rob the others from their electronics or spend money on more electronics

Hotshot outjumping a nitro Rustler. ;)

For the most part (when I do get to the track) my Hotshot or RC10 runs in with stadium truck (elec & nitro usually get combined) as there is not much local vintage action.
