well as you guys know I have been looking for a team checkpoint motor for awhile
i have a can but no endbell or arm,
with a number of attempt's to get one here and off ebay i THINK i got one
but here is the question for the owners of these motors.
Did they make 2 versions?, im not talking turns or anything
im talking can style! and endbell
i know of the alloy endbell but did they make a later version with a non alloy endbell
also what does the endbell read rite on the bushing (bearing) capture! ex (yokomo end bells read yokomo)
also did they make a none textured can
ill get some pic post later

Black oxide cans were early ones, grey are late. Alloy endbells were checkpoint only, composite were with "rebuilds" sold to motor builders

On which version?

Didn't they have some endbells for slot car size brushes as well as full size? Or was it just a different hood with the same endbell?

And to clarify the composite endbells- they sold them with their oem motors to other "builders" to put their labels on? But did any "checkpoint" branded motors have a composite endbell or were all the true checkpoints aluminum? Last, did the composite endbells have any writing on them?

I think that covers farmers questions and my own too

I wish I would have known you were looking for one because an ebay auction recently ended for one missing a label without any bidders at $10.

ya i missed that had it saved but it ended while i was at work
emailed the guy to see if he still wanted to sale it but no reply
and for me looking its been in my bst thread forever but no luck

ok here are two motors are should i say one, and a can
as you can see the one on the right looks like reggies except no endbell or arm
on the left is the one i got off ebay
and you can see the difference, im assuming that this would have been a later model maybe the last batch before checkpoint went to the new brush style, or it was a hodgepodge of parts that where being used at the time
fazing out old stuff
the can on the new one does not have the texture on the can like the older can
the end bell is a composite
i wouldnt say that it is not a true checkpoint,such to say the early CE 10's where not do to the early mix match of left over parts
but a transition motor
the arm looks rite from all the Google search's i have done

Talking about modified motors there had been roughly two lines of Checkpoint motors. The Platinum series motors using Big Jim´s own design can and aluminium endbell (as pictures checkpoint 004 or 008) and older motors using Igarashi or Yokomo cans (as picture checkpoint 005 or 006). Platinum motors were the only ones using aluminium endbell.

It is not the aluminium endbell but the small slot type brushes what is typical for Checkpoint motors. There had been also a few Checkpoint motors using standard brush assembly but most of them had been in the beginning of Checkpoint RC motors.

Motors with Platinum can but using standard brush assembly (as pictures checkpoint 011 or 012) are no real Checkpoint motors. Some of the Platinum cans were sold to Fantom for their top of the line motors but these were using standard brushes then, slot brushes were exclusively to Checkpoint.
