I decided its finally time to go lipo, my nimh packs are fading and instead of buying more i am just gonna make the jump. I have a novak havoc 3s esc and run a 17.5 and a 13.5 ballistic motor that i run in a rc10 team car. i will also be using the packs in a b4 and b3, t3 with similar set ups. I will occasionally be racing but most of my time is spent going to the track on practice days and turning out some hot laps. What would the c rating would anyone suggest or overall continues amps should i be at?

I wouldn't stress out too much over the C rating. There's no real standard that I know of unless the industry made some changes recently(which I doubt). I think most companies inflate their numbers anyway. I'd just look around at respectable companies and see what you can get the best deal on. If you catch a good deal you can save yourself 30% or more on a certain pack which means you can purchase more packs or put the money toward a good charger.

For a more direct answer, anything 25c or higher should make you happy.

25c or higher is what i was looking for, just wanted to make sure i am not pulling more then what i would have.

I am no battery expert, but I wouldn't ignore the c rating to much. Combined with ah or mah rating it is supposed to be a direct indication of the amperage capabilities.Its also very important when it comes to charging.

That being said, I age that the actual numbers probably do vary quite a bit. I have had pretty good luck with Turnigy batteries, and they're cheap.

I'm a big Gens Ace fan, and have no issues at all with them. I have used and own a couple of Venom packs and one Thunder Power pack which perform exactly the same as the Gens Ace. But the difference is the Gens Ace are far less expensive. Unfortunately I can't get them shipped here directly anymore but if you live in the US its not an issue.

It is a problem trying to get them here in Canada. Hobby King does a great job of shipping them to me.

Any of these will do very well for you. Make sure they are hard case and a decent MAH with a good C rating.

I have quite a few of the 5000 mah packs. I can get run times over 35-40 min per pack just running around.
