So I finally got my Graphite runner on the track yesterday, and ran my first lap in almost a decade... Got cocky pretty quickly in lap 2 and managed to completely snap a turnbuckle (right rear). The Dubro ends held up great, and everything else was solid - but the damn thing snapped, rendering one of the ends unusable.

I'd replaced all the turnbuckles using ASC6259, but can't for the life of me find a breakdown of the lengths included in the set. Looking at the original RC10 parts list, none of the turnbuckles are listed as applicable for "B" (Graphite), leaving me at a bit of a loss. Given the tedious process involved in pulling them out and measuring them, I figured someone might know offhand.

What lengths are appropriate for this car? I'd like to replace them with Lunsford 3mm Ti turnbuckles in the hopes that they'll simply bend in the future, rather than snapping (those Dubro ends aren't exactly cheap). Worst-case scenario I'll get the calipers out tonight and measure.

the turnbuckles for you car would be the same for any car that used the same turnbuckle locations, ie, long front arms, standard rear arms with the inner mounts probably a CE list would be fine.

as for the turnbuckle that's broken off in the link, use an xacto and trim 2-3mm off the end of the link and use a pair of pliers to remove the stub. won't affect the strength of the link.

You cant go by the stock lengths because the dubro ends are longer than the stock ball cups, and the newer ae turnbuckles aren't threaded all the way to the center.

Thanks for the tips guys - I'll try to salvage that Dubro and keep it as a backup.

scr8p - the turnbuckles in ASC6259 worked just fine with the longer dubro ends, just had to thread them pretty deep. I actually just found a footnote for them that says they're the same lengths as what came in the CE kits as well, which gives me a starting point.

Wait, you already used a stock turnbuckle kit with the dubro ends? Hmm, I sometimes have to cut then for ballcups.

You're probably wanting the 1.65 then.

Yep - worked out pretty well. Used Dubros on both ends of the rear links, and on the outer ends of the front links. Kept ballcups on the chassis side up front for steering clearance reasons, and to serve as a bit of a fuse to protect my old plastic Hogue steering (trying to avoid throwing down on a new or vintage A&L setup). All the outers (caster blocks, rear carriers, etc) are B4+ gear, so I'm not worried about breaking those components.

Just did some measuring against the stock photo of the kit and confirmed the lengths included:

2x 2.06"
4x 1.65"
1x 1"

This lines up with the application info listed in the old RC10 parts list.

So now, the big question: Lunsford, AE, or other?

That really depends on what color turnbuckles you want. Durability should be the same.
