I picked up this SG Coyote 2wd buggy i have always liked them and they have a interesting chassis design. I have not seen to many of them around and have been wanting one for a while. Heres some pictures from when i got it, then i decided to strip it down and clean up the bearings , wash all the plastic parts and polished up the chassis. Also cut out the windows on the body and painted the driver and put some mesh in the windows.

I love buggies without shocks sticking out mile-high above the shell.

Ahh the SG Coyote,I remember those days. My best mate in high school had one of these and his brother had one too. His parents bought the 2 boys them for xmas and were built up by our local hobby shop way back when. They looked the business and even though i realy liked the Italian styling and cool thick lexan body those cars my were utter junk at the track. I dont mean to offend because I absolutely love the look of the Coyote and with such a cool name Its a shame they couldnt get the drive line up to scratch. From memory I think it was the bevel gears running into the gearboxes that were the biggest problem, we never could get the cars to handle very much power at all before the plastic gears would chew right out. Even the hobby shop importers couldnt get them to work and they were trying to run them in competition. Ive since heard there was a metal geared version released. Are your kit tyres like hard plastic?? The rims look sexy thats for sure, just a pitty it was such an ordeal to get the tyres glued without any channels for the tyre beads to sit in. I remember splitting stick packs up to run 3 in a row on each side of the chassis. The plastic moldings were a little on the soft side but overall the car looks great. I love the chequered design on the body,your car looks fantastic too.

thanks for the comments, i really like the older stuff especially the not to popular buggys from the 80's best time of r/c in my opinion, this thing could use a few parts if any one has one in pieces or that there willing to part out a few pieces that would be great ,i.e. a lower front arm & front body post are on my list to find.

I think you miss a whole lot more pieces, or you just didn't mount them yet.
Wasn't this a 4WD?

from what i understand they have 2wd versions and 4wd versions, i think black wheels is 4wd drive and white wheels are 2wd. just my observations.

One 2wd and 1 4wd.......

One of coolest looking buggies from the 80's. I would have to agree on your comments about cars from this period - the 80's was a remarkable time - with heaps of manufacturers trying many different ways to be the best......ahhhhhhhhhh wish those days would return.

I remember my mates 2 cars both having the almost transluscent white rims and they were both the 4WD versions. If I had to have a guess I would say that this may have been the earlier run,perhaps the metal geared version had the black rims. To get the cars to run my mate pulled the driveshaft and ran them 2WD. Still didnt work very well with those hard plastic tyres....and I do mean 'hard'.

this buggy actually has metal gears in the rear gearbox, and was suprised once i cleaned it theres not much wear on the gearbox gears at all they cleaned up real nice.heres a pic of the the parts before i cleaned them , the plastic gear is the spur gear and the metal one is the main diff. gear its metal and so is the shaft pinion that turns it.
