Hi guys,

I know these types of builds are nothing new, but I thought I'd post up my in-progress RC10 Sand Scorcher build. This build features an already cut up gold pan chassis that has been shortened, custom-fit SC10 gear differential/gear box, DS arms, Buggy Champ wheels and tires (fronts are custom cut) and, of course, a Sand Scorcher body. While the DS arms really help the scale look of this build, I'm concerned about their durability for off road running. Any thoughts?

I still need to add an interior, window nets, body details (front and rear lights, license plates), etc. The shell came out o.k. I guess. I haven't painted a hard shell body since my 1/32 slot car days. I'll try to get some body off pictures tonight or tomorrow so you can see the in-progress mods.

that looks awesome! Should be no reason to question the DS arms, they are made of carbon reinforced nylon.

NICE!!!! Can I bother you to measure the width of the rear from hex to hex? I wanted to go the DS arm route but ended up goin custom and Im not sure Im happy lol. One thing that stands out is how you allowed the body to sit low and cover most of the chassis which is what I wanted outta my BroncoBuggy! Good job, please post more info on the trans as well! Oh, and as a tire modding fanatic, I dig the fronts alot too!!!

Very nice job Steve. You nailed it! I will be breaking out the fiberglass for a shortened chassis before DS arms go through the roof!

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. Here are some updated pictures, as well as a body off shot so you can see the SC10 gear diff mod. It isn't pretty, but it works and it's strong.

I just realized - how did you get the rear wheels mounted so that they will work with the Tamiya wheels? Fronts I assume you just used the appropriately sized bearings.

Hi! My apologies for the delay. I used Tamiya Frog axles and a few spacers. I'm actually going to change them out for either those Carbon Works long RC10 axles or Tamiya TG10 long axles and hope those work. The Frog axles have dog bone openings that are too large and cause the non-Frog dog bones to wobble around.

Also, I made some tweaks to the roll bars (one bar too many on the original design), so I'll try to post some new pictures when the weather cooperates.

You could also pick up a set of Blackfoot/Monster Beetle to RC10 rear wheel adapters for pretty cheap on e-Bay.

CRP, JG, HPI, & RPM come to mind.
