Iam soon finishing the frog full carbon project so I was thinkin of an crazy looking ultima.
What do you think about that.

An Ultima is High-tech right of the assembly line

O though I could build an ultima with the option house chassis, pro xl suspension arms, triumph transmission and carbon parts upper plate,shock stays.

Any classic Ultima build is pretty cool, but if you want to go beyond a typical buggy...

I'd like to give an Ultima the same treatment I give to Optimas...I just never had an Ultima (enough parts for a complete one, anyway) to begin with.

I say go for it. As good as the Ultima was, I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement, weak links to bulletproof, parts to upgrade to alloy or carbon fiber, etc.

Will start with the rear shockstay.
3.1mm thick it will be.

I'm curious how you will do the steering set-up. The standard setup take so much space and is practically entirely responsible for having to locate parts of the electronics onto the topplate even with the transversal mounted pack.

Here's a suggestion to you guys who are custom-making all your carbon fiber parts: You should seal the cut edges to prevent delamination by running a bead of CA glue (Krazy Glue) along the edges. You can make the edges look even better if you color them with a black Sharpie marker prior to sealing with Krazy Glue.

Here's a piece I made that I finished that way:



EDIT: I just noticed it looks odd that the top plate wasn't treated like the fabricated carbon part, but it's a stock Optima deck and those weren't prone to delaminate. I think I'll color the edges black with Sharpie anyway because it just looks better. Details, it's all in the details.

funny looking rear shock stay: looks like a combination of the stock one with the tower from the turbo.
