VXL swap and a crash

I got a good deal on a vxl stampede gearbox and swapped it on to my Rus'buggy. I put the reedy brushless speed control and thunder tiger 3900kv motor from my sc10 in it. Pretty straight forward. I just swapped out the entire rear.

Once I got it together and the lipo charged I took it for a test run. The first pull of the trigger and I was happy that the rear end came with a wheelie bar. It was pulling wheelies in grass or concrete.

After a little bit of running I checked the motor and esc temp they where staying cooler than in the sc10. Then I decided to see a high speed run on the street infront of my house that ends in a cul de sac with a curbed island in the middle before I put my gps in it and check the actual speed. This is where things went horribly wrong.....

The pass started nice the front tires lifting just a little since I had the wheelie bar all the way down. Smooth acceleration and tracking straight. Then I went to apply the breaks before entering the circle and the car kept accelerating. It wasnt because of it running out of range because I was less then 10 feet away and new batteries int the tx. Then the car slammed into the curb surrounding the island snapping the c hub and throwing the top of the c hub and the upper arm about 30' away and removing both stock traxxas rear shocks from their tops spraying shock fluid all over the curb. On top of this the car almost took off again because the motor was running for about another second.

Post crash analysis. C hub is toast. Rear shocks need rebuilt but I have some aluminium ones that I just havent put on. Esc appers to be toast now because it wont even power up. Now just a few pics.
