Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
Just received a gens ace 5000mah lipo and an RC10 CE i got off the bay and the battery is a little thick to fit into the bulkhead cup unless I jam it in. What is the norm? shoving it in, cutting the top portion of the bulk head cup? Are some 5000mah packs slimmer? The car is unused and I feel kind of bad modifying the bulkhead, but will if that is the norm. Are there aftermarket alternatives for bulkheads? Interested to hear your suggestions.
Thanks,
Ren

My Gens Ace and Turnigy packs are jam in, been fine racing for 2 years +, although some of the higher end packs I have in 5000 fit like a glove in the rear bulkhead-

Re: Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
unfortunately, your two options are modifying the bulkhead, or finding a battery that will fit in the cup better. That's your call, but I know I've seen enough destroyed bulkheads to make me cringe. If the bulkhead is in good shape, see if someone will trade up with you or pick up an abused one you don't care about chopping up if you want to keep that one. They are available quite a bit on ebay, and with your eyes peeled, you can get 'em cheap.

ok..........
you don't feel bad about running an unused car, but can't bring yourself to alter the bulkhead?

What scr8p said
When in doubt take it to the hobby store and test fit the packs...You will be the talk of the store with that car...Everytime i have taken one of mine with me to test fit stuff it draws a crowd...Shocking to see so many people who have never seen one of the originals before...Makes me feel real good
The compliments will probably make you not want to run it in case you wreck it so be ready for that
Then you will be left thinking about a beater to build instead of a shelf queen...

SMC 45c 3200's fit perfect, and make a 10min main with a boosted 10.5 on a very large track every time-kaiser wrote:turnigy 4000mah's fit perfect, no real need for 5kmah IMHO.

Re: Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
Kaiser, are you happy with the turnigy pack? I planned to pick some up as they are relatively inexpensive. I will compare the size to the 4000.kaiser wrote:turnigy 4000mah's fit perfect, no real need for 5kmah IMHO.
Re: Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
more then happy. i've been running turnigy's for 3 seasons now, every one of them works like new.
i just picked up some of the newer nanotechs for some of my mods. but i use the black case 4000's in all my vintage cars.
i own about 15 packs, 2s, 3s and 4s no complaints about any of them. as soon as they make some hard case 1s i'll use those too. right now i run thunder power 1s packs for 1/12.
in my mod buggy (b4) i get more time then i need with a 10.5, over 10 minutes, probably more then 15.
a 17.5 uses about 1000-1200 mah in 6 minutes in my jrx2.

Re: Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
For me, I just squeeze my 5000 Gens Ace in the bulkhead. Works fine. But good to know that the Turnigy's are good, I had read mixed reviews and now that Hobbypartz won't / can't ship to Canada I was looking for an alternative.

I was going order a few 3S and one 4S in the Gens Ace form. I had no idea that they did not ship to Canada anymore.

Sorry to take it off topic a tad, but it is some good info to have.

The notice I get when shipping on eBay says you can now ship lithum batteries via USPS again, maybe they just haven't up dated their info

Re: Lipo Battery and RC10 bulkhead ?
The newer "full-brick" style lipos often don't fit... the older sticks that emulate the 6x1 layout with the 6 dimples at the bottom (typically the older Orion carbon series) fit perfect
