Turbo Optima Mid Special - Magazine Article Scan
Turbo Optima Mid Special - Magazine Article Scan
I got this from a random magazine pile at the local hobby shop back in the day when I had my SE. Thought the Mid fans out there may want to see it.
One thing of interest is the car in the test may be a prototype as you can see it only has a SWB belt cover on it with tape to make up the rest of the length at the front and the stickers are different to the production kit
Sadly the article was not in color

If my memory serves me right; wasn’t the front of the belt-cover a piece of plastic? Never used the belt-cover my selves, so I can be mistaking.

It's always iteresting to seethe different versions of cars that were not avilable in the US.

You are correct the piece that goes underneath the upper deck at the front was a piece of black plastic, its easy enough to find as its part of the OTW-9 parts blister which turns up on eBayHcp22 wrote:If my memory serves me right; wasn’t the front of the belt-cover a piece of plastic? The car in the scan has SWB belt covers on it, hence why they are tinted and the piece under the upper deck not being corrected. Maybe it was an early prototype or works car before the commercial limited kit came out.
Likewise the belt covers shown in the LWB belt kit are SWB covers, the LWB ones were always clear not tinted
Also the undertray is cut just infront of the rear gearbox for some reason
The thing I find most interesting is how the stickers are completely different to the kit you could buy, I'd love to see someone do a reproduction of those stickers
