IDK how I do it lol. But I'm the proud owner of a TCP now. Got it for $125 shipped!

Only thing I'm missing is the original body, wing wire(Bandits should work), the dog bones(probably nearly impossible to find) and the TCP long front A-arms.
BTW...can anyone post a picture of the A-Arm 2631 and 2621 side by side?
Thankyou.

Nice buggy! Everytime I see one pop up for sale, I've always got money tied up in another RC project. One of these days I'll get one!

Very nice. This has always been my favorite Traxxas buggy. It looks like it is in excellent condition with all original parts.

So are you going to run it, or clean it up and shelf it?

Right now I plan on running it in 2wd buggy...probably 10.5t boost class. That will require money for a Brushless system. I'm looking into having hardened aluminum internals (ball diff gear, idler and top gear) too. I'll see what is required to get those made and see if anyone else be interested in some too. I know hardened aluminum will work for the ball diff b/c I ran one for 6years in my T4 and right before i sold that truck i did a diff rebuild and it was like brand new. It handle everything from 7700 bashing and blowing tires to 8.5t boost on a tight indoor track to even off road oval. I was told the idler liked to strip easily and to get the steel top gear. I'm hunting down some spares right now. Hopefulyl someone got a bulkhead and TCP long A-arms.

I still have to get round to actually driving mine :) but it does give you high expectations when you hold one of these in your hands.

Personally I don't like the original body, so I have a funco single seater sitting on it: pretty much a lexan rough rider.
I don't know if mrlexan still has them, but Kamtek does one for sure.

If you are considering running pretty serious power, you should use bones and cvd's, at the very least, swap out the plastic outdrive yokes with steel ones.

at the VERY very least, swap out the universals for black plastic ones, and keep the nice white ones for when you decide to stick it on the shelf.

I forgot to ask, where did you find this TCP?

I found it on a ATV forum lol. The guy didn't even have it posted for more then a couple hours before I spotted it. As for the driveshaft. I was told CVD will need the travel limited. So if I want to use this with bruhsless switch to the Bandit black driveshafts and the metal u-joint?

yeah, that would be my recommendation.

And I recommend to take a look at how solved this: you can use RB5 CVD's or simple and cheap axles and dogbones

I love the CVD/dog bone idea. But what about the transmission gears? I was told the stock idler strips easily and to upgrade to the steel top gear. I know the associated makes a 45t diff gear. But what can I used for the top and idler instead of the hard to find Traxxas?

TCP Total Competition Package (of the TRX-3)

Do you know anyone with an RB5? You might try that for the topshaft, or maybe the Arrma. Look around for the teeth count , or metric cars of similar design with the same final gear ratio.

top gear is 21t, the idler is 30t and diff gear is 45t

sure, but I meant look around for other brands gears with the same count.

I've found my academy griffin has a compatible gear on the topshaft. But that's no real help as it's unavailable anywhere.
Ultima rb5 would be my best bet and good quality guaranteed... but pricey
