Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
Depends on the price. I wonder what parts are interchangeable with their other SC trucks. Odd that they now have a belt and shaft drive 4x4. I am not a big fan of RTR. It is no wonder people cant build or fix things these days. If I would buy it for my son, I would take it all apart then give it to him with the instructions. I hope Team Associated doesn't become a Traxass.

Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
Street price of the ProLite 4×4 is $359 and they have a release date of late November. i dont think much will be the same as other ae sc trucks. it looks to be a Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk SC Truck. kinda upset that the new radio takes 6 bats (all other radios take 4 cells now). i bet Team Associated dreams of becoming the next traxxas(look they now sell rtrs with bat and charger like traxxas). dont get me wrong i hate the way traxxas makes radios that you need a computer to reverse a servo (or a 45 min light / beep show) and too tall sctrucks but they get everyone into rc.. plus alot of guys are having fun at the track bashing slash4x4s (i said having fun bashing, not winning races) and alot of guys have broken sc104x4s.

Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
Agree on those points. Not too bad of price. I just mean I hope they keep certain things separate, beginner - enthusiast. I understand the sales and money to be made from the RTR's but I hope they remember where they came from and why so many people would rather hand build a kit made for competition.

I like how they learned that a servo saver needs a notch or hole in the chassis so you can 'adjust' servo horns without taking the servo out

one less hole for people to make in chassis.. funny how now they have a very easy access servo on this 4x4 and the hardest to access servo on the sc104x4klavy69 wrote:I like how they learned that a servo saver needs a notch or hole in the chassis so you can 'adjust' servo horns without taking the servo out![]()

Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
i understand people want to build for racing. i have a different view on rc cause im not racing and i dont care too much about how the car is set up..like lets say the rc your building has a gear diff and when you build it you want to pack it with grease. thats how i was, now i just want to get something and bash it as soon as i get it . if the diff blows up in 6 months from the company not packing it with grease ill worry about it then.i think losi has it set up best with the scte. a artr roller built and you add radio motor and esc and a rtr.. im really just glad to see ae make a all new(even though its kinda just a thunder tiger its still an all new ae rc) truck with new radio esc and motor . will i buy it? its not a must buy for me but maybe one day ill get oneCamplinP wrote:Agree on those points. Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
its based on the thunder tiger sparowhawk which is the company that owns associated and is has a scary resemblence to the tc4...its on my christmas list as i was never a fan of that over complicated pile of crap they call a 4x4 sc truck the sc10 4x4...i mean why do you need to take the whole truck apart to do the most simple of part changes or maintainence procedures?....i owned an sc10 4x4 for as long as it took me to buy, assemble, and sell before it even had electronics near it. i wanted to see what it was like but after doing mock maitainence to see how long or hard it was to do part change outs or how much cussing it was to get to stuff without taking it apart i gave up and sold it fast and bought another losi scte. speaking of the losi scte...great truck, easy open layout to work on and will kill a sc10 4x4 with just one solid hit....tank vs. 3 piece plastic chassis equals tank drive away and plastic truck get broken. ive pretty much been an associated guy since my first goldpan and have owned every car, truck, buggy electric or nitro since then and have never as a consumer been so disappointed in an associated rig until the sc10 4x4 came out....now with that said will the sc10 4x4 disappear after the prolite 4x4 comes out...doubtful but your gonna see alot of sc10 4x4 rollers for sale real soon. sorry for the rant...its early and im still asleep.
do you think its a bad twilight zone episode for team associated to be re producing a buggy from yesteryear that is capable of beating their latest and greatest production buggy?

Re: ProLite 4x4 Ready-To-Run
it doesnt handle like a slash 4X, this is not top heavy at all (the local slash 4X trucks all traction roll on demand). I havent seen if anyone has tried the new LCG chassis on a slash, that may change things up. but, to be fair, i havent driven any other SC4X.
my buddy is putting together his SC104X, so hopefully we can get on the track side by side and swap transmitters back and forth for 2 good comparisons.
I can tell you, I havent run anything 4X in several years (so the driver was holding back the truck), with both diffs "open" (just grease, no diff locker fluid - yet), so driving was a handful (and I rarely drive with anything hotter than a turned down 10.5) but I was still able to pull a 3rd place out of 8 trucks. 6 SCTEs, 1 SC104X and myself with the ProLite. (SCTE, SC104X, ProLite, all the other SCTEs, in that order). The leader lapped all of us twice, but 2nd and I finished on the same lap, but i wasnt close enough to contend. 4th down, I had even lapped them. 7 minute main I used about 2500 mah out of the pack too. Surprised it was that low with as hard as the stock 550 can motor pulls this thing.
