I wasn't into R/C at all during the 1990's, I was in college and the RC10 was already up in the attic. But I have recently become interested in the early 1990's stealth cars, Kinwald tubs etc., thanks to a few really nice builds on here. Basically I have dripping paint scheme envy, and I think I found a cure..

With McMaster-Carr part # 91780A174 - Aluminum Female Threaded Hex Standoff, 1/4" Hex, 2" length, 4-40 Screw size, I have a front mounting bar too.

I could be mistaken, but I think 2" standoffs are a little tall. I think the Losi and I know my Ultimo Pro use 1" ones. Cool project, will be watching..

To clarify, I'm getting the "standoffs" in the pic from Kim. Mcmaster sells "standoffs" of different lengths and materials, pre-tapped at the end. The 2" aluminum one from MC will have to be shaved a bit at each end, then I can fit it in the 10T front bulkhead, and then I can tap two 4-40 holes at the top for the upper plate connection. You'll see. I have some really different stuff planned for this one.

I have dimensions of the front brace.

1.8" wide, #4 holes drilled and tapped with a c-c spacing of .6" centered in the 1.8". I turned the two ends until the hex was gone approx .4" on each side to look like the original.

of course, if you have the parts in front of you, you shouldn't need them.

Thanks J, I was planning on about 1 and 13/16 if I remember right. I do have a small collection of parts together, so I'm good to go. Thanks! I don't have a lathe, so I'll be hex from one end to the other, which is fine with me.

I have pretty close to everything I need. I want to run a double decker composite craft chassis to see what it's like. The biggest curve ball is going to be a T2 (yeah a 1994/95!) T2 tranny in there (admittedly B1.5/SCR8P inspired). I just have to mill out a square into which it sits. I have a solution for the top plate connection at the back. I'll need to resolve some hole pattern issues. I'll need to figure out the rear arm mount problem too, as the rpm worlds mounts are really designed to be tucked in there up against the stealth which has a different footprint than the T2 tranny. I think I can solve it, for yet another angle on the B1.5 concept. If I'm 100% successful I'll have adjustable rear toe in and maybe even an adjustable wheel base Wish me luck.

I came up with a name (Oreo OIN) for this buggy during the mock up. I was up 'til 230am last night, as I just couldn't put down the Dremmel, 4-40 tap or file .

The T2 tranny fit to the CC chassis with some relatively easy mods. Well I gues milling out a nice square in the chassis (I didn't simply cut a hole) was a bit tricky, but otherwise it came together nice. Note that using the narrower rearward (stealth tranny) holes worked fine, but to anyone who tries it - use short screws...they will otherwise interfere with the diff gear.)



I had to build one part from scratch , a piece of nylon cut and drilled to the T2 bulkhead to provide a support for the upper deck (and soon a kydex speed control shelf). Note I also run the deck lower, cutting the standoffs down and mounting it under the front mount..made from a 2" nylon standoff Kim sent with the chassis. The JConcepts Illusion "Fast Pack" body that I got on sale (its for an XXX-CR) fits really nice. The paint vision involves Oreo Cookie livery and Kinwaldesque colors, but really stretched 'cause that's how the body looks - moving while standing still.

I've never cared for the standard, flat graphite chassis but I like this with the top deck and the other attention to detail. Can't wait to see it with wheels and a painted body.

Yep. Kim at CC will do it for you. They are (mis-advertised) as 10T chassis' in the Composite Craft facebook page. You just call them and order one up. They one-off them too, because I asked if I could have one without the steering servo saver notch and he said no problem at all.
