Bigfoot! Powers Clodbuster

I think I have a new favorite r/c. This is it. This was a major score for me, I picked it up on ebay as a complete, minus radio for $200. Me, not being able to let well enough alone had to make a few changes. I swapped out the shocks for blue AE aluminum units. Put on a new Bigfoot body (it had an old one, but was mounted higher than I like) and put some fresh rubber on it, it came with cut down stock tires. I also added titanium upper suspension links and servo link. It's got twin Tamiya sport tuned motors and it's geared high, so it's really fast. A Super Rooster and a Hitec 645 round out the electronics. I bought a new 5000mah lipo and this truck screams. Gonna take it to the vnats next weekend and hope I don't blow a motor up.

Oh, and it handles, steers and accelerates like a dream. Yeah, I think this is my new favorite r/c.

Thats a good deal, especially being that it looks to be in great condition. I had mine for sale once and decided that I can not sell it. The Powers is a rare, successful, reliable, and easy to work on chassis.

The truck took Best In Show at the event. Everybody loved it. Nobody could believe that such a big, clumsy looking truck could scoot around the track so fast and so well. I gave the other 2wd MTs a hard run for their money. It was a total blast. I drove the truck hard. It spent a lot of time in the air. Needless to say, by the end of the weekend the nice Bigfoot body was in pretty rough shape. It was worth it though.

I got a new body for it to look pretty on the shelf for the winter. And some nice wheels and rare tires. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can take it back out for more damage. I've also upgraded the axles with CVDs and ball diffs from TTR.

Here's the new body and tires.

Great action shots, thank you for uploading ! The new body works well with the chassis too.

I am glad to see your Powers truck being put to good use :D I guess I do not understand how this could run in a vintage monster truck race? Is the Powers chassis really that old? How many were in the class ? The class allows for 2wd and 4wd entries? Sorry for all the questions, I am very curious..

Also, I really like what you have done with your battery mount setup, I still use the rubber band method. Did you somehow fabricate associated battery cups into the chassis?

it's more or less allowed in the race because there's a very low turn out for that class, plus it's running against smaller more agile trucks so noone can complain, especially if the racing is clean.

next year from what i understand any clod can run in this class, remember the axels are the heart of these trucks and they are unchanged.

i'll be running a cpe terminator pro lite clod next year.

The race is vintage in spirit. If they stuck to strict 1994 and before parts, probably about 3 of the entrants for the entire event would be allowed to run. I had planned to run an early JPS chassis, which would make the 1994 date I believe, or at least very close to it, but after I got the Powers I decided it was the chassis to go with. As kaiser said, the heart of a Clod is the axles. Once 4 link suspension was introduced with the Clodzilla 2, everything else was kind of a variation on that design. I would say that 4 linking the Clod was the single most important hop up ever introduced for the truck.

The MT class is split in to two categories. Clods, and pretty much everything else. I suppose if someone brought a USA-1 or a High Roller, it would be grouped in with the Clods. The two classes race at the same time, like at LeMans. I did manage to come in second place overall in a race or two.

Very cool truck. I love those action shots. 8)

Are Clods hard top find parts for? Does anyone still make parts for them?

Parts are easy to find since the Clodbuster has been re-released by Tamiya.

Some of the Original parts such as the decals and original Chevy grill can be a little harder to come by.
