Start of my XX CR Runner ( Finished )

Post by Caine »

Well its that time of year, X factor starts tonight :( So in traditional fashion i start building cars:)

Got a XXCR to build for my clubs upcoming vintage series. Doing this will hopefully get my arse in to gear to go racing as i havent been for almost 2 months, just been to busy!

Anyway here's a couple of pics of my piles of bits cleaned and ready to go, i have almost got 2 cars there so i'm happy that i've got plenty of spares

The whole pile of bits.

Looks like a great collection of (nice) parts to be getting on with... I need to find myself another RPM gear cover for my racer - they are much better than the fragile original Lexan ones!

Keep us updated Phil (with pics of course)

Had some time to get this together at last, shocks and electrics to go. Also waiting on some wheels from JC Racing, then i'm pretty much good to go:D

2 weeks till vintage series starts, cant wait!

Looking goooood 8)

Seems a little unfair to run this in the vintage class.... I raced my XX on Saturday at a 'Telstar' club meet on Saturday & qualfied 2nd against the regular modern 2wds!

They let me run one last year!

Good work thou dan :D

They do say to bring your modern cars on vintage night just in case there is a lack of cars or to many heats, but i've just ordered a new servo for the XX (my other one for vintage was a tad slow) so even if they dont run vintage i'll just run it in with the modern cars and see how she does :D

Well she's all done and ready to roll on friday, just the normal trackside tweaks to do when i get a practice.

Really looking forward to it as i havent been racing in a while. Also because i have a new steering servo, and a load of spares i'm not going to be as cautious as i was the last few years with my RC10's and other CR.

Anyway here's some pics

Thanks for the comments guys :D

The shell came with the car along with another 2 one is in very good nick, i want to strip it with brake fluid only problem is its silver and blue, i have always had trouble removing translucent coats of paint this way, however silver might be different as it is a solid coat?

Will let you all know how i get on and get some other photos of the vintage runners as well. The other 2 guys who run XX's down there who normally pit with me as well wont be there so i'm probably gonna be the only one running a losi. There might be a jrx but not sure if he's going tomorrow :(

Heres a list of the runners, bearing in mind its doubtfull all will attend

Runners and Riders so far:

Brian Spooner - Losi XX
Martyn Spooner - Losi XX
Phil Caines - Losi XX
Mike Baldwin - feeble excuses as to why he can't race despite me putting his RC10 back together for him!
Dave Belsten - Yokomo?
Dave Jackson - Cougar 2
Rych Brind - Tamiya Hotshot (go on go on go on go on!)
Matt Lovett - Mystery 4wd!
Pete Belsten - RC10 Team
Chris Steed - RC10 Team
Paul Knight - RC10 CE Stealth
Dean Morgan - RC10 CE 6 gear
Craig Harris - an assortment of RC10 bits & Chris Steed's RC10 for round 1!
Rich Whitehead - PB Mini Mustang or dunken ebay purchase of an Optima Mid
Jay Mills? - Mardave Cobra
Si Osborne? - Losi Jrx2

Brilliant! - If you could get all those cars & drivers together on one meeting it would make quite a sight!
