Hi,

How can we easily and for sure make difference between short and long wheel base C.A.T. ?
Chassis and plate are the only differences, or other parts are also differents ?

Can you please tell me if the one I have just bought is a short or long one:

I dare say, that´s a LWB.

The chassis on the SWB is about an inch shorter than the LWB.

The wheel base on the LWB is approximately 281 mm

ok, thank you, I confirm, mine is 281 mm wheelbase so it's a lwb :(

Which parts to change to go to a swb ? Only chassis, plate and belt (and of course body), or something else is different between the 2 cars ?

For the SWB, grey front bumper, pulley instead of front differential, one way front shafts
Non slipper topshaft, narrow rear track setup (no plastic spacers between the gearbox and the rear suspension mounts)
Can´t think of more right now.

Other differences between the SWB CAT and the XLS include,

SWB CAT does not have turnbuckles
SWB CAT steering bellcranks does not pivot on the brass inserts but on the screw itself (nut on top)
SWB CAT has rear stabilizer bar
SWB CAT has zero degree front shock mount
SWB CAT only has one hole setting at the top rear mount on the gearbox
SWB CAT is narrower at the front and rear (no extra spacers) and as such has a narrower steering rack
SWB CAT also has shorter slider shafts
SWB CAT wing wire is mounted on the top of the shock tower (XLS is mounted on the lower mount)
SWB CAT normally built with only one chassis post (the one where the servo is mounted on)
Some SWB CATs have the gullwing rear shock tower

Hope this helps :D

too many differences, I'll keep mine as a long wheel base!
But now, is it a XL, or a XLS ? which differences between these two versions ?

I believe yours is an XLS (based on widening spacers) as the XL is like the SWB with a longer chassis. Nothing wrong with leaving it as an XLS, have fun restoring it and so much easier locating parts than a SWB CAT.
