Mini E-Revo build
Mini E-Revo build
Anyone else here running a MERV? I recently re-acquired my old mini Slash from a buddy and am in the process of turning it into a mini E-Revo. I had a lot of fun with the mini Slash but want something a bit more stable and better at bashing (huge jumps). My friend had done zero maintenance on it, so a complete tear down to clean it and inspect it was in order. Diffs were completely dry so I filled em up with some 50k diff oil. Shocks also need to be re-filled. I'm still waiting for more parts before I can really start work on it, though. This project has kind of put my RC10 build on hold because I want to get some bashing time in before summer is over. Below is a pic of cleaned up chassis and starting point.

Re: Mini E-Revo build
Finally got some time to work on this. Installed RPM a-arms, RPM front and rear bumpers, aluminum turnbuckles and push rods, and all the other Traxxas parts needed to convert over to a Revo (driveshafts, pinion and spur gear, wing mount, and wing.) Next comes the rims and tires, and then trimming and painting the body.

Re: Mini E-Revo build
I had a lot of fun with mine but ultimately had to get rid of it because of broken diffs. It didn't matter how gentle I tried to be with the thing, if I plugged some batteries in and turned on the controller - a diff was breaking. Got pretty good at swapping them, but it's still not a quick process. Just got tired of putting time and money into it - got a full size Revo to bash instead. Eventually got rid of the Revo for a RC8Te to bash - best move ever.
Hope you have more luck than I did!!

Re: Mini E-Revo build
Diffs are still fine and it's been run a lot as a Slash, but I know the bigger tires will add more strain. Did you ever shim the diffs? I read up on the problems with the diffs and ended up adding some shims to tighten the ring and pinion gear up a little bit, we'll see how it works. I can see how tearing it apart every time to fix a diff would really be a pain, it's a complicated little machine. I've got pretty much everything done except for painting the body. Here's some pics with the new rims and tires (Proline Dirt Hawgs and DE racing rims).
