If anyone here has access to old RC Car Action magazines, could someone please scan an ad with this particular logo seen in the corner of this add from the scans forum.

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2326

I need just that logo scanned and blown up to a reasonable size, and somewhat clear. I work at a sign shop and want to redraw and cut some of these logos in paint mask for an upcoming body.

I will gladly ship some extras to the person who can help me out!!!

P.S. I already have this logo done, but would rahter have the other one.

Are these big enough for you?
Better quality versions from other AE ads of the time.

Absolutely Perfect.

Let me know if you want a set and I will send them your way. I can do them die-cut in pretty much any color or size, or do them reverse cut in paint mask if you wanted to use them for body painting. You supply the size color and option you would like

Mike,

I end up doing most of the vectorizing by hand. It just comes with the territory when customers bring something they "designed" themselves. Once I get them done I will PM u.

sounds great! thank you..

Ya i used to be really good at the old illustrator at hand vectorizing etc, but i let the "skill" fall and now ive been too lazy to re-learn it lol. Sounds dumb but i tryed my hand at it last night for giggles and i was terrible, amazing how fast you forget things..

At work I use illustrator 10 and Signlab e6.1 (expensive sign specific software)

At home I use Illustrator CS3.

I have 10 at home but never bothered looking for a trace feature. Have you used that before? Have you used Corel trace? If so, which do you think does a better job?

We just updated the lab I teach in to CS3 Master. Man what a package but beyond my price range

the corel draw x13 auto trace i understand is amazing, though i havent touched it in a while. FlexSign 7.6 is what i usually use and the tracing features work really well, but not as good as illustrator in my opinion.

I use VE which does just enough to work so I am pretty sure they don't have a trace option. If they did, it would probably suck.

What version of ill are you using?

My Corel package is 8 I think so it is probably too outdated to offer great performance. Although, I have done some pretty amazing things with it. I did a Taz and a picture of my 12R and they came out awesome on vinyl. But it took hours to wick :D

Automatic vectoirzation capabilities in illustrator didn't arrive until CS. Previously you needed plug-ins to accomplish it or draw it by hand. I tend to draw everything by hand as I can control exactly what I want and get all the little subtle details automatic vectorization loses.

Here is a comparison The top one is Illustrator CS2 live trace, The bottom my hand drawn version.

Well, looks like I need to brush up on tracing. Nice work. Can you post a brief description on how you do it?

well you pretty much just need to learn to use the pen tool in illustrator. You point and click the tool to make adjustable nodes. You can make nodes that creat curves or ones that continue a straight line. Once you are completed drawing the nodes, you can idividuall adjust each one to perfect yuor illustration.

This tutorial ( http://www.sketchpad.net/drawing1.htm ) looks pretty indepth to get you started.
