Improving range on Spektrum receiver?

Hey I've got a few Spektrum 3300t receivers with a DX3S transmitter in my cars. The problem I have is that the range doesn't seem to be that good compared to my old Futaba 75 MHz am setup or my FlySky gt3-b system. Can I solder a regular wire onto the existing one or just replace it with a longer one?
Just seems like the range isn't great and given that it's 2.4 I figured it should be better.

It should be. I almost loose sight of my 3300 before I loose control, and my eyes aren't that bad. I don't think the wire length is not going to do anything for you like it would for the old school am.
I don't know a whole lot about these things but remember that the juice to power the receiver comes through the BEC of the speed control. Are you using the same speed control you used for the Futaba and the Flysky? That's the first thing I would do is swap the esc out.

The range for the telemetry function is about 100' or so.

I am using a Mamba Max Pro in every single car so I don't think its an ESC issue. I did a google search and apparently there is a newer version of the 3300T receiver with a longer wire. Some guys have simply swapped the wire and had good results, others have just made sure the antenna is more vertical.
Apparently the issue is that on other Spektrum RX's they use a coaxial wire which works better than the 'regular' wire on the 3300T.
Figures.
I guess I have to do some soldering.
Anyone have an old Futaba AM receiver lying around they wanna sell me

Good to know. Thanks because I'm going to be picking up another one real soon here.
Now that I think about it, I run the rx wire straight from the unit, up through an antenna tube like so, but I had to modify the antenna holder to do so.

i know alot of guys that have bec issues with castle esc's. try another system if you have one to rule that out.
the guys i know have added some sort of capacitor to solve the issue, two guys this past weekend had the same issue, both with spektrum and castle together.
on my futaba 2pl (thier cheapest 2.4 radio) i just let the wire hang out inside the body. but i keep hearing/seeing people with this issue with spektrum and castle.

Well I should clarify a couple things. I do have one AE ESC with the same Spektrum Receiver so I know it's a receiver issue. Plus, if I run a mamba max with a castle motor and the same servo in both, but one has a fly sky and one a Spekky then I know it's a receiver issue when my son can drive his Rc10 to the end of the street and I can barely make a few houses down. Kind of sad but I will solder a longer wire and see what happens.
