NICE ONE!!

I was watching this too but figured that i'd already spent enough in recent months on this crazy addiction of ours

You sure got that for a good price - a little work cleaning up the ProCat will leave you with a car worth twice what you paid I reckon... let alone what you could assemble from the rest of the parts.

Started the xls build :D

Gone for some black transmission plates in stead of silver..
P7050196.JPG
P7050198.JPG
Very happy with them against the red chassis....

while searching for parts i found these red uprights
P7050199.JPG
was wondering if they would look better than the black ones....

More to follow :D

So i started on the layshaft, this was all strange to me as i had a Procat when i was younger....3 pins, 2 gears, 1 layshaft and a spur gear done!!

Took me longer to do the layshaft than the diff

Anyway:
P7060202.JPG
P7060203.JPG
P7060206.JPG
Here's the diff
P7060210.JPG
Now to put it all in the transmission housing
P7060212.JPG
Attach it to the chassis with the long belt
P7060214.JPG
Outer tranny housing
P7060215.JPG
Now i know this putting a hole in the rear was all the rage bitd but what the.....dirt,stones and sand all through the hole didn't see the point sorry....

Wow, you don't hang around!!!

Looking good... never having built/owned a CAT before its great to see how the belt arrangement works - kind very similar to the Mission Touring car?

I guess that hole makes checking the belt tension easier, a small square of insulating tape would be a quick & easy way to cover the hole to stop dirt etc getting-in.

We used to make a little rubber plug to put in the hole. I could never get the tension right without the hole.

Looking good too, what bumper are you going to use on the buggy Mick?

Paul.

Nice rebuild Mick :D

Will you get a new Kamtec XLS shell for it? I'm tempted to put one on my Procat after I've fitted saddle packs.
