I don't mind the old "cab forward" shells since as has been pointed out they don't have the squished rear end. The new ones are also very blunt and angular. The Parma Eagle was pretty much the first cab forward design in my opinion. I thought it was ugly back then but for some reason it's not too bad to me now. Maybe it's just because the current bodies have lowered the standard so much!

That's along my lines of reasoning, too. Some of these current "buggies" are so slimmed down to the tightest fit that it seems ridiculous to even INCLUDE a "cab". In the past, buggies more or less tried to look like cars, with the windows, drivers, fake scoops, etc. and the "cabs" provided room to install the electronics. But with these butt-ugly cab-forward designs, isn't incorporating a cab AT ALL rather a moot point? Might as well just shrink-wrap the chassis like a sausage and call 'er done. :x

i don't think it's moot, the whole idea of the extream cab at the front, and the windscreen angle is to give downforce over the front of the car, what really will be ugly is when the "cabs" become the full width of the body to maximise the downforce they can generate

I'm sorry but I don't buy that for a minute. With all the turbulence being caused by the massive front shock tower & shocks, I doubt that "cab" gets any real downforce at ALL. If downforce there was needed that badly, why not just have a Lexan piece incorporated between the shock towers to make a front spoiler/wing?

You must be subscribed to Fredswain's posts here and on RCtech as he repeatedly says the same thing about shock towers .If you can drive a car, you can feel the difference and see it in your lap times- and that little wing between the towers was popular before the HD and Highflow shells were introduced. It's cool if you think that they are ugly and or disproportionate to the scale of the car, but racing is rarely about looks- when was the last time you saw a rear wing that large stick.up that high In the air?

i question if any of the naysayers of the cab foward bodies race, or have tried any of them on a track.

i can understand why some may think it's ugly, but i'm out there to get better/faster and win, not to look pretty doing it, although i'm only as pretty as i think i am, and i think i'm damn sexy.

i can tell you my b4 steers better under power with the jconcepts punisher which is a very mild cab foward body.
i haven't tried any of the more extreme bodies because i've been loving my b4 since i put it on and don't want to mess with it.
it wasn't a huge difference but it's noticeable, especially in 2wd mod.

the only time i heard someone rag on these bodies at the track was when the first stadium trucks showed up with the cab foward bodies on them, then next thing you know everyone is rocking one.

I don't think the cab forward bodies actually provide any downforce as a function of the windshield, what I do think happens is it provide a surface for the tumbling air to flow over the shock towers to 'fill in the void' behind the towers, allowing for a slightly more streamlined silhouette. This actually prevents a little bit of lift, rather than add downforce.

Oh, and still fugly.
