Kyosho OPTIMA slipper clutch ? What the???

I have two types of these slipper input shafts for the Optima gearbox.
While I can find references for the 'TURBO' Optima and 'SALUTE' stock item I am wondering about this other type I have pictured in the foreground.
(I have removed the phillips screw and gone with a M3 thread and nut)
Can anyone shed any light on this style and is it an OEM or aftermarket part?
....and can these parts from the mid series be used on it?

Was gonna say "looks very mid-esque" to me... and a bit of a hack. Have you tried it?

To my knowledge, there were 3 kinds of gear for the Optima series. The solid shaft one was the stock Optima/Javelin gear. The Turbo/Salute could be found with either the limiter gear with the thick spring, or the thin spring washers. I think the one that worked best was the one with the thick spring.
I discussed this a few years ago here, have a read...some of the info might be useful.

I have one of those still in it's original Kyosho 'OT-74' packaging ready to go in my Optima - it's just a different version I guess.

The OT-74 package came with both varieties of gear, the thick spring & 3-spring-washer kind. I've seen both in packages labeled OT-74...when I was trying to track one down, that was when I discovered this, and was told by Fireboy on eBay that the thick spring one was the better one.
If you have those, hang onto 'em...they're getting pretty hard to find. I've accumulated a few as spares and it wasn't easy.

I got one after reading about htem. boy, how disappointingg.
After I tightened it up the gear just wobbled on all sides. I put it away and won't be installing that junk any time soon for a runner.

I think you made that observation before, Mr. ED, and it seems you're the only person who's had this problem. You must've got a bad or worn out gear. I have them in all my Optimas and they all work great, not a hair of play in any of them. Sorry to hear yours has an issue, but you might just be the only person to have that issue.
EDIT: For interest's sake, you could send it to me and I'll see if it wobbles in one of my Optimas...seeing as you're not intending to use it anyway. I'll even pay the shipping.
