Kyosho Platinum shocks
Kyosho Platinum shocks
Are there any tips to tuning or working over Platinum shocks to make them work as well as golds? I have a Turbo Ultima with 20wt in the rear and 40wt in the front (going to 20). The front has the stock springs and I've put some Losi light springs in the rear. The car still hops and doesn't appear to soak any bumps up. My Pro XL with golds just soaks bumps up and does great, the turbo on the other hand just bounces everywhere.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the Platinum's are a very good damper for 2WD. They were only used on the Turbo Ultima then Kyosho went back to the 'Golds' for the Pro, Pro XL and even the Triumph.
As much as I love the Platinums I think you'd be far better off going with the Golds also.

I liked the golds much better. The platinums were just really fussy to work with.

Re: Kyosho Platinum shocks
A few years ago I was doing my own anodizing, & tried to ano the Platinum bodies. Whatever they're made of, the acid just dissolved 'em!
About a monthe ago, I scored new bodies on the Bay, and now have a beautiful set of Platinums again. However, during the quest for info on these over the yaers, it is my understanding that, whilst pretty and interesting, they work like ca-ca.
So, I'm saving 'em for a shelf Queen Bullhead build (They are all rears,) as unfortunately I've never read anything great about their performance. Just my 2 cents! Chris REC

There's a reason why they were so short-lived
Now if you car hops around helplessly, if it's on the flat, try thicker oil, if ok on the flat but hoping when landing jumps, try to set the pistons with less flow
