How do you like it?

Just saw the press release on the Kyosho Sand Master. Talk about amazing timing. All the rage right now is scale buggy’s, and Kyosho shows up with one that’s supposed to be shipping this month. It will be available as a RTR (Ready Set) or as a EZ Build kit, where you need to add your own radio system and finish off the build.
They list the build time as being 1 to 2 hours with most of the sub-assemblies already built for you. I think that’s a great way for kids to get into their hobby and learn a little something about the vehicle they just bought. No they aren’t building diff’s or anything, but at least get their hands on some of the major parts for when they need to fix something, they know how to take it apart.
The price is around $180, it’s 2wd with a 540 (22t) motor, Double wishbone suspension, tub chassis, and the Ready Set version comes with a 2.4GHz radio. "source BIG Squid RC "

I could have sworn we had a thread about this but couldn't find anything... Weird. Maybe it was deleted or something. Either way it looks pretty cool. :)

A picture showed up in one thread but there was no more details about it than here.

 I still like the looks of the arrma raider better
Edit: also like the presence of a slipper and metal motorplate better on the arrma... a lot

the look is not bad, but I fear that quality is as mediocre as mini-z buggy :?

There was a small notice in my "Green Bug" thread - that´s all I´ve seen.

Looks cheap to me a few bucks worth of molded plastic, even the shocks are molded what happen to all the exotic materials, composite? CF? even aluminum missing I'll pass.

Entry level shouldn’t have any “exotic” material, because then it would be too expensive. I know back in the days Kyosho calculated that a Rider should hold up for 6-8 weeks. Then it ended up in some garage among all other broken toys. Then after 25 years some like us find them in a yard sale for 10 bucks bringing back childhood memory’s … Buys it and spending month searching eBay for part…

This car looks cool to me as well. I like the fact that it is narrower and shorter than a SCT, and more in line with current Race buggy dimensions... From the dimensions I guess you could race it in the buggy class if there was not a dedicated class for them. FWIW, I thought a Ultima DB with the narrower RB5 suspension and shorter chassis would be a cool car too. Mentioned that a few years ago, but I don't think anyone's tried it.
