That's not hard to find in 3mm threads, but 2.6mm threaded ball studs are not too common for RC cars...you might look at stuff for boats & planes, though...I believe I've seen some brass-colored studs like that for boats.

Good idée Marc, they were used on older Kyosho’s like the Scorpions, but those threads are only 5mm long…

I think I've got some NIP... nope sorry. XR15 looks like it's 2.6mm but the ball-end is 4.5mm and the thread only 9mm.

Sins it’s hard to find M2.6 ball studs with long threads So I have to make my own from M3 threaded suds. How hard can it be?

Lars, I don't know where You need "4.8mm ball studs with long 2.6 mm thread (10-12mm)". If we see a picture of Your "problem place" we might help You to make a workaround to it. Might it be possible to install 5-7mm collar under the ball studs? And if You start to machine parts, do them rather like Mr.ED suggested, if possible.

Yes, that’s the best way to do it! But in this case the OD is only 4mm, so is not an option, it have to remain M2.6 thread. I’m trying to convert a Scorpion front end in to a modern 12mm hex and I think I will make it work buy just replace the spindle. Then the field tests will tell me how it actually did work out.

Lars, there's a better way to do this without drilling the plastic part.
I'm gonna respond later tonight as I have little time now, but maybe you can already see what I did in my gallery.
My ghostrider has a scorpion based front end with hexes.

It will be some type of king pin with the ball stud. I was thinking on your solution Dennis, but the extreme angle of the tie-rod makes it almost impossible to have screw head on the top. I have also looked at Mr.ED’s conversion to, but it’s more like total rebuilt of the front end. I think my solution is simpler, just a new RB spindle, a 5mm long and 4mm OD brass tubing and a custom made ball stud made out steel. This will also keep the Scorpion original geometry almost intact.
But I’m not sure if RB’ spindle is the best, because I would like to widen the front about 3-4mm on each side to give room for the modern wider front wheels. Or is it possible to find wheels with positive of-set or is it negative, I always mix them two up…

that's plan b. excellent. make sure you put some oil on the threads, so you don't slice off the ball end.
