Full-Option 235mm comparison...

Many people have asked for the dimensions of the RC10R5 once the Full-Option (
http://www.fulloption.co.uk) 235mm conversion kit is installed. Well, here are some photos showing that in fact the rear end is around 3/8 narrower than the stock RC10L and the front end is around 3/8 wider than the stock RC10L.
Who knew...

I know in Germany a few guys run axle spacers to get to full width. Although VIP Performance in germany used to offer a special lower pod plate to facilitate a true 235mm conversion, as many do not like running the CRC adapters - they cause an imbalance, add weight, and are just overall a bad solution. Oh and this is based on the fact that they run 7.4V Lipo and low wind Brushless on Asphalt.

I have an off topic question about the blue shock that is pictured on the old school 10L. Who makes it and what size is it? I've been looking for a blue one that will fit on my latest RC10LSS project.

I built up another RC10L center shock over the weekend and I'm posting the Associated part number to clarify its ID...

Thanks Rooster and sorry again for jacking your thread.

Which shock cap did you use? Did you use the original .56 shaft and internals? Also, which blue spring retainer is that?

Oh, no worries, the shock cap is Associated part number 1598, qty 4. Correct the shock shaft is .56 and all I used was the standard Associated internals for a VCS Macro shock. As far as the spring retainer, those are old Integy parts that I got several years ago.

I did some research on those Integy retainers, Yes those will work as retainers for our shocks. These retainers are slightly different from the one's I original had, the newer ones in this auction have the the three slots added to save weight.

This past weekend at RCX I met a gentlemen from Associated and we talk about a Pro-10 cars and how popular they were in Europe and Asia and how they were replaced by the touring cars here in the states. I had mentioned how I was using the Full-Option conversion kit on my R5's and he suggested that instead of using the CRC wheel spacers for the rear end, to use the combination of a R5 oval axial and right differential hub with the IRS's tallest left hub and I would cut down on all that rotating mass of the CRC spacers and additional hardware. Please see photo below...
I happen to have a RC10L axial that had been cut down and RC10L3O right hub (P/N 8459), so I ordered the left hub (P/N IRS220) from IRS and it arrived today. I suppose if I wanted to use the newer "D" rings, I would have to stuck with the R5 oval axial and right diff hub.
You can see compared to the CRC spacers that now I'm slightly more narrow that before, but if you take in consideration the weight and rotating mass loss, I think this is the way to go.
I would like to personally like to thank Mr. Don Natale from Associated for all his help and insight with the pan car knowledge.

There should be aluminium axle spacers available that you can use to space the axle itself and widen the car. Or you could use some thick 1/4" shims.

Is there a physical difference between a macro shock body and a regular .56 top-load shock body? Or is it just the sealing components that are different?
