2005 silverado gauge cluster

Took the silverado in to the dealer for gauge cluster problems. Come to find out thats a common problem with a hiden warranty up to 100,000 miles and owner pays the cost based on mileage for repair. I am at 125,000 and with a little rant at the service desk they will replace the cluster for free. I just have to pay for the vin programing and software update.

yeah, not sure what years it spans, like 03 to 05 I want to say.....told my dad to take his 04 in for the replacement. No problems with the transaction. Was it always screwed up or something that just started? His stopped working after like 20k miles or something low....
