Wondering if there is anything similar in tread design to the Proline Road Hawg's that will fit an 834B wheel? Something besides off road spikes or foams.

Any suggestions you guys can offer? This would be for a shelfer, but I'm hoping to find something that isn't so rare it takes me 3 years of ebay searches before one appears.

Did I stump everyone? Maybe a picture of the style I am looking for will help (picture shamelessly borrowed from sho-dog's gallery thread).

What about the Duratrax Street Tracs? Would they be too "street"?

Proline made a road hawg in a 2.0 size but they are long disco'd. Here they are on my 834 with 2.0 wheels.

hey Adam,

Your best bet might be the tamiya brat tire. You'll need to cut the inside bead so the surface is flat. The daimeter and width should fit your wheels.

not everyone but people like me that aren't familiar with the 834b don't know what size wheels they are . Are then 1.9 or 2.0 or ? If I knew that I'd try to help out in a heartbeat Adam

Wow, that´s a sweet thing.

Original 834b yellow wheel size is 1.70" and the Mini-Mags have a 1.75" and a 2" that is in the 2 bolt Yok pattern, I'm not sure if they made a bigger wheel but you start to get a wheel that's slightly out of scale if you go too big.

Thanks, yes, I didn't know the diameter if I'm being quite honest. I have the yellow Yokomo wheels pictured here but I didn't know the sizes. So based on that, will the tires others have suggested (Brat tires) not work on these smaller wheels? The 2.0" Road Hawg's won't, but I guess I was hoping there was a smaller/similar tire that would fit these.

CustomWorks makes an on-road tire that will fit on rims from 1.9" to 2.2". It fit on a Kyosho Turbo Optima wheel perfectly, and stretched to fit an HPI 2.2" 5-Star wheel as well.

This is not a big deal as sometimes you did the same thing to the early RC10 rear tires, the bead needs to be a flat slide on fit and then you need to glue them if you are going to run the car, personally I don't glue them and don't plan on running mine.


The tires that were just posted above are too big for the 834b nip wheels you showed in your post my comment refers to the Brat tires shown earlier.

anyone know if there are foam tire donuts that will fit on those wheels that are readily available?

To sum it up for you Adam,

The Yellow wheels are at about 1.75", actually pretty much the same as RC10 jelly beans without a beadlock.

So 1.75" Tamiyas (Rough Rider/Brat/F150 srb/Holiday Buggy) will work with the beadlock cut out. Anything intedended for RC10 Jelly Beans will also fit.



You will also be able to stretch 1.5" wheels (Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Super Champ, older Kyosho wheels etc). There are foams out there at 1.5" too.

In each case, those Yellow Yoke's are wide, so there will be a strip of yellow plastic visible unless you force most tires to be wider with the glue (or actually trim the yellow plastic narrower - more appropriate for a runner). Here's a good illustration...
And I just checked. All the Mini-T and 18T tires designed to fit stock wheels are 1.45", so they would stretch 1/4" but sorta fit. Depending on the particular tire shape/design, and with foams to keep them from going concave, they might actually look ok on a shelf.

why not mount foams, and raked them? cleaner look.

Aahhh!...in other words you are looking for a tire that also fits the DS wheels. I know the DS are getting harder to find but I found a pair of Proline#1069 AC-69 "F-1 Hawgs" that are primarily the road hawg tire you are looking for in the size of approx 1-3/8" strong. Was going to see how they looked on a ds wheels but found out the ones I had are glued up pretty good so waiting to find another set of wheels to experiment with. They might be hard to find though so might not be a suitable solution.

But to make a short story long the DS tires are out there more than often if you are willing to pay what they go for and can accept that tire tread pattern...
