New project, think it's a TRX3???

Just picked up another project off a mate tonight for the sum of £10 which I personally thought was a bargain for a basher.
Not 100% sure what model it is but I think a TRX-3 from the mid-late 90's, hopefully someone can help me out with that one!
She's a bit ragged at the moment but I'm sure I can do something to tidy it up which will involve lots of unneccesary spending, anyhow here's a few pics of how it stands currently.

Yep a TRX3. You got a heck of a deal on that one. Are you really going to bash it?

Probably, not really into racing as I have other hobbies which already take up all my spare time. Only really bought this as it was a cheap deal and it'll give me something to do at work!

very nice. 8) maybe even a fibrelyte chassis plate. Traxxas' hopup chassis plate was more of a graphite/flat black lookin chassis. Only seems to be missing the top chassis plate, wing, and gear cover from what I can see.

Yep, made a list last night of a few new screws I need to replace missing or wrong ones first.
Then I'll have to get saving up for some new fibrelyte bits to match the chassis plate, gear cover and check the motor still works. One thing thats confusing me is the front arms don't look to be the originals looking at the diagrams off Traxxas website

A job I can do is strip the shocks down and rebuild them as the rears are a little sluggish, will have to have a read up on what oil I can use and see whats available close to hand!

Those front arms look to be #1931. They're from a TRX-1 or Blue Eagle.

I have a NIP top chassis plate if you need one.

I would hate to see you use it for bashing. I would love to have it as a matter of fact. I have a perfect TRX 1, and would love to have a latter version car as well. LMK if you would be interested in something else to bash with. Thanks -Jeff

WOW! That's a fantastic find, like one of the previous poster said. It would be a real shame to see you bashing this, not many of those around.

£10 is an unbelievable bargain!

You are correct Todd, the lower chassis is definitely a Fibre-Lyte chassis in the twill weave pattern. Fibre-Lyte is still in business so you should have no trouble getting a new top plate.

One of these went for £45 on Ebay UK, watched it and watched it till the very end and never bid.

One day... when I am a little more financially secure and don't have to hide it from my wife ;)

The trx1 arms made the car much more stable and team traxxas did prefer it, and my own preference was the losi hydra drive with a layshaft accessory made this car unbelievably good on clay and dust surfaces. If running i would advise getting lunsford tie rods and stainless steel screws for strength. Also when rebuilding and you clean the bearings dont use wd40 as it attracts dirt, use gt85 as the teflon compound helps.
