Just picked up a corally pan car looks kinda like a sp10x from 1989 but the chassis is a good bit diffrent. I can't wait to get batteries for it and try it out.

Corally SP-10GS (http://www.pro10-classic.com/pro10modelle1990corallysp10gs.html). If you want to run brushless in this, you'll have to use a short brushless motor (eg. Corally), and assemble the pod around the motor.

Thanks for the info on it! Any one know if corally usa in florida is still in buisness. I tried calling the number on the website for them but go no answer.

I have been podering what I am going to do with the Corally. I have not recived ay response what soever frm the US Corally dealer to get a brushless motor and bumper for it. Is there any other size motor that will work in place of a 540 for a brushless converion. A friend of mine suggested a 380 size motor but it seems like there is to much of a size diffrence.

I have done that before with a Tamiya F1 car before, yet had to fab an adapter plate to mount the 360, then fit a sleeve over the output shaft to run standard pinions. It works quiet well, just have to keep and eye on gearing, and temperature. I do not know if an outrunner style motor would work in 480 size? But I believe your best bet, is a standard brushed motor, which are still easy and cheap to pick up, while you are still having a good time. Add some Lipos and you should be set.

I think I will do just that. The limited space in the motor pod just makes brushed motors more viable for it. A hot motor and lipo it would scream.

slim, let me attempt to take a picture of a set up I recently found in the bottom of a tool box (craigslist purchase), it is a 380 sized brushless with a 540 adaptor plate already on it, i put the set up in my JRX2 and it hauls butt...4400kv motor. Mtroniks made the speedo/slapped a sticker on the motor.

Most of the EZRun motors these days are basically the same--380-sized motors in a 540-sized can.

JK, what kind of brushed motor would you say that 380 is equivalent to? Is it faster than an average 27 turn brushed stock motor, 19 turn brushed, etc...? You get the idea. I'm looking for an option that is close in performance to a nice 27 turn brushed stock motor, maybe a little bit quicker, but without the torque level of a 540 sized brushless motor like a 17.5T.

its a 4400KV, my 10.5 is a 4250KV, so around a 12turn brushed? Torque is down on the smaller can, hence, the reason I like it

Good lord that little thing is fast! The 380 sized motors might just be the option I'm looking for.

i personally think these smaller motors are the way to go in pan cars...now if I only raced pan cars

Slim, what is your plan, lipo/hot brushed, or take the plunge and try a "smaller" brushless system?

Sorry I been ignoring this thread on accident. The sp10 has kinda taken a back burner for the moment for my cc01. I think I am going to go with a smaller brushless system. For now I am going to keep the unknown turn lightspeed motor in it that I got with it. Either way I am upgrading it to lipo.
I rigged a 6 cell nimh pack in it for a run and it was surprisingly fast. I think it is the fastest brushed car I have.

After I get the motor set up out of the way I am going to get a new body for it.

Ha ha update. I decided to mesure a burned out reedy 3300kv next to the brushed motor in the car. The reedy is the same length as the brushed can without the end bell. So as soon as I get around to it I am going to have a truely ballistic road missle. But I am still considering the smaller set up like jk has
