hi, does anyone know if there's repro roll bar kit for the cat xls? Or will I have to scour the bay for a set (f/r)? thanks.

edit: forgot to say it's for a runner.

hi Jason,

looks like I might be too late to take your offer  It's the front one that I am really looking for. Any ideas if brute force and ignorance + piano wire will serve just as well for a runner? Thanks.

I have made my own roll bars for a few cars in the past.

I use losi hardware or Tamiya. I use the connector links and ball joints from modern off roaders or even touring cars. The sway bar kit includes the bar holders. Buy some 2mm or 3 mm piano wire. Measure and start bending to the shape that is required. The tricky part is to get the bends even from one side to the other. It may take a few goes but piano wire is cheap. Thinner wire is easier too. Once finished put the bar on a flat surface to check for tweek. I will be making one for my Cat I say sooner or later.

Modern sway bar links are adj too unlike the soldered links from the vintage Schumachers.

Remember front bars take away steering while rear give more on power steering and vintage roll bars are quite thick due to low grip tires in the day.

Thanks Mad Racer! I have downloaded the xl manual already and there's instruction for how to make the roll bars. Will follow your advice for using modern connectors.

Will keep in mind your tuning tips. Now that I think about it, my cat was always very squirrelly back in the days when I raced it. Looks like I need to make a front one then. Thanks again.
