t4.1 brushless Gearing????

Post by dhonda200 »

i have a associated t4.1 rtr with the stock brushless setup and was wondering how high i could gear it? I went from a 18t pinion to a 26t pinion and the esc and motor definatly run warmer then before but nowhere near dangerous. The battery however seems to run warm now not hot but warmer then id like, its a cheap lipo 4000mah 15c battery. So if the car isnt too bad now if i back down to a 23t pinion would the batery still be too warm?

When ever you lower the gear ratio ( bigger pinion lower spur) you are pulling more amperage from speed control and battery and the motor is dissipating that energy in heat. If you have stock electronics be careful. I would stay under 23 tooth pinion. Motor shouldn't get hotter than 160.
