(Again) I have tried to collect some information and parts for my next project before making it public. I try to to make this the most important/best project that I will ever make. The project will be Team Losi's Jrx2 Proformance kit prototype car replica from 1989 ROAR nationals. "The chassis?!" You might ask, I will get to that later. When I first saw the pictures of these cars (Jack Johnson's winning car mainly) for me those cars were something more than just average cars pictures in the RC car magazines. I got my self a Losi Proformance kit car too. Thanks to Finnish importer A-P from Jakoset, he did mix and match parts from Jrx2 and Proformance kit boxes so that I got only the needed parts. So I have not never owned 5-link stuff until this week. Some kind of Gil Losi's philosophy to desing, manufacture etc RC cars made me so big impression that I never since used any other 2wd cars than Losi's. I was really happy all to them (from this Proformance kit car to first generation XX) and raced with them here in Finland in modified 2wd class. Losi cars suited well to my driving style and to our tracks. I also really liked to play with the different setups and how they affect the car handling. Losi cars were the best to do this, You could adjust eg. shock position more than with other cars.
Ok, time to show what I have now:
The first parts for this project were NIB Tecnacraft titanium hinge pins & turnbuckles. Thanks again for this member who sold them!
I got this Jrx2 from rc10talk member and it arrived earlier this week. It was a little coincidence that I got this Jrx2, I was first only asking some Losi help from him, since I had a feeling that he have it much more Losi knowledge than I. Lucky me, he had one unused Jrx2 for sale and soon that car was on it way to new home. I also got some other needed parts for this project from him: Red wheels, JrxT front shock tower, "Kit" compound front tires and "High Traction" compound rear tires, NIB gear cover. The car have also correct rear shock tower, the one with four lightening holes:
I also have some parts left from my Losi era: Team Losi "foam rings", some hardware, firm rear springs and Jack Johnson's Motown Missle 12x1 motor. That motor is in EPIC can. I don't know which is the right can: EPIC or Yokomo.

There is also really good setup info available:
There is some conflicts in setups between those two, but I will somehow trust more the "Tech Sheet 2" info.

And now the chassis:

The bottom of the chassis is early JrxT chassis without the servo saver hole. There are holes for cells and because the battery sits lower the battery supporter will fit under the rear bulkhead. Since the chassis is hand made all the chassis here and in previous posts looks a little different: slightly different rounding, different number of holes etc. Also interesting are the holes (5 pieces) around the chassis. Alternative mounting hole for antenna on right hand side of the battery. Four on left hand side are for lexan transponder mount, see Ron Rosetti's car above.

EDIT: The chassis in pictures above is not mine, I was just very very lucky to get these pics!

Hi Jirka,
Back in those days I drove a RC10 (as you know) but I have to admit that I drive nowadays a xxx-bk2 almous weekly indoors in winter time just for fun.
This came to my mind after reading your comments in start of this topic
Nice project. Must keep an eye on this...

I thought I was the only one working on one of these. You've got much better pictures than the one I had from RCCA. Glad to see a close up of the chassis brace.

Roger

Looking forward to seeing this one progress...
Great pictures of that chassis - was it an original from BITD or is it someone else's replica of the original team cars?
Interesting looking at your various photos, there seems to be both LWB & SWB versions? Jack Johnson's car looks to have been built around the original SWB chassis but the other photos seem to show LWB chassis' (in some cases shaped around the sides?) . . Looks like JJ's chassis doesn't have the battery slots either? - just my casual observations
Funny how Losi managed to not only spell 'Performance' incorrectly on the box but also on the paperwork too

i'm pretty sure it was supposed to be "proformance", not "performance". and definately not "proform
anance".

Damn, what is this car called? I want to get even the title right.

Is it Proformanance Kit?
Derby Dan: The chassis pics are from original car. If the owner himself wants, he may introduce himself here. But the chassis on Jack's car, to me it looks like he only wanted to use SWB Jrx2 body on his car and therefor he have cut a little his chassis around servo area. To me there seems to be slots for the cells in the chassis, but if there are only 6 slots then it must be SWB chassis. If however there are 7 slots then it must be LWB chassis. But I definitely like to hear others opinion here.
GJW: I will do the chassis by my self. I have some tools to do this but before I start to drill and cut carbon fiber, I will do model pieces from plastic to see they look and fit right. And yes when I will start to drill, cut and grind the slots to main chassis I will will be "little" nervous.
