Old-time wide 1.6" wheels up front?

Post by SteveK »

I got this setup this week:

The front wheels are Tamiya, but I don't see any inserts so the axles must be metric (still to grimy to measure). How could I run a set of wide Associated wheels on the front end?

My original plan was for a buggy-based truck with new parts, but I like how these white parts cleaned up so much I may go with that and pick up a gold chassis and nose, so I'm like to keep the front 'white' if possible. Maybe get somebody with a lathe to drill out some rear wheels for 3/8" flanged bearings?

I just thought of the HPI Blitz Pro, it has white/gray parts, the front caster blocks and steering knuckles might work well. 1.6" tires will fit on Mini-size wheels with a 12mm hex, so that would work perfectly.
