To cut or not to cut

I need to cut down a second battery cup for my RC-10 to fit under the chassis stiffeners. My first battery cup I did not mind cutting, it was already dyed black, but the only other spare I have is white. It has not been used in almost 20 years, but I keep thinking I might need it someday(feel like I am on hoarders).
I really want to get my RC-10 back together so I can drive it again, and this is standing in my way. Suppose I could order a black set from tower, but then I would need to wait, and I hate waiting

.
Does anyone else have this problem with used spare parts?

i have a brand new black battery cup that's already cut down. it's from a build i started years ago with an a&l chassis brace, never finished it, and ended up parting it out. if you want it, just send me your address.

Please no, I have a white one in my possession and I could've used it IF it wasn't cut in 1/2
Maybe I can find a use for it, but it makes me sad
You can get new rc10t black ones all day long on fleabay

in a hurry? how much of a hurry? really want to get back to running bad? Cut it...its a battery cup. They are all over ebay. True, you might have to buy a car to get it but I have a bunch of parts mobiles that have white ones in it that were bought for other things on them and I don't want to be the only one to do that
This is just my opinion though and its totally up to you. If I'm closer than scr8p I have a black one you can cut down too you can have. That way the wait is less if you decide to not cut it. I hate waiting too
let my roasting begin...

I will place the white one back in my parts bin to be used on an original RC-10 someday.

No, as mentioned they're all over eBay. I've had a harder time finding a T2 battery strap, every time I search for one I scroll past numerous white battery cups... those really are just about everywhere.
