1988 rc10 gold pan bomber
Hello all, I'm new to rc10talk but think I need some help. I got a rc10 gold pan new in 1988 I was 12yo. I did well so my dad got me the new graphite car in 1989, I still have both cars. I started racing dirt oval in 1/18 scale for a long time now. Our local track is starting a new class 1/10 scale bomber class using the older style rc10's. I'm going to bring my old girl off the shelf and try her again as a bomber. rule says 27 or 19 turn brushed motor with nickel metal battery, and dirt oval or touring foams
Now to my question. What can I use and what all has to be changed to use dirt oval wheels i noticed that the rear axle is bigger at the back where the wheel is smaller. also is the old 6 gear transmission usable and or repairable. Any and all help or other ideas would be helpful.
If anyone has done this or raced a class like this let me know what you did or used
Thank you
Jason

Well,I'm making some headway. I took about 20 laps trying some things, but I don't have the right gear to get the old 6gear tranny where it needs to be. I was running 54/14 but need to drop a few on the pinion (slow out of the corner). However it handled very well with rc4less oval foams. Anyway I post updates as I make changes and enter in a race.

Re: 1988 rc10 gold pan bomber
Hello again.. Just an update. We are up to like 12 cars in this bomber class.. and this was my second full week running it.. I have left everything the same as it was new, but drilled out a set of wheel spacers to fit my old axles and put a set of cw dirt oval tires, Last week I won the B main and tacked the tail of the A before I took a hit to the front and it broke my old plastic servo saver and ended my night.. This weeks race I made the A and started 5th, when it was all said and done I finished 3rd but set fast lap, running with newer B4's, Losi 22's and traxxas buggies with some good drivers that has run these cars for a while.. So I have the oldest car, running all old stuff and I'm pleased with the old gal.. she done a great job

Re: 1988 rc10 gold pan bomber
Ok, this is my last post on this topic, however I was wanting to keep updates on this old car since pbr and others helped me by there posts. I did change the rear over to the cw hubs and b4 axles, running on rc4less silvers. I was tq on the night and won the A main. This made me a happy man being I got this thing as a kid and was able to bring it back to life... Again I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your help and thanks for the web site for being there to help keep old vintage stuff going and winning races.
ps. this car won the A main over 1 rc10 stealth car, 4 b4s, and 1 old losi xxx.......
