RC10T Chinese part recommendations

Post by 86NESKid »

So in the process of moving I busted my old box of 3 rc10s and 3 rc10ts out of storage with the intent to sell them. BAD IDEA. I am now sucked into it again after not looking at a kit for 20 years (well I did get a couple out about 10 years ago and hoped em up a little but back they went in the box.)
Anyway, I think i am going to fix them up, sell a few and make a couple raceable and couple shelf queens.
Does anyone have recommends on the Chinese part websites? I ordered that sweet radio for $35 and was thinking of a 4400 motor with 60A esc and 2 lipo 30c, not really sure what all those numbers mean exactly but that's what I gather is a good setup from reading some posts. any input? will old stealth or 6 gear tranny handle these setups?
what have I got myself into again?!

Ok sounds good, what is the difference in actual performance between a 35A 60A 80A etc... ESC for what we are running, old rc10 with lipo and brushless. what is a good motor spec? and was going to buy the "sensored" setup?

I hate to send the money out of country but it is tough to beat what you pay for the Gensace batteries.

People seem to be happy with the 60A setups. As for motor, anything between 3000kv-4000kv is a good runner. Anything over that is fun for a bit, but it gets old replacing plastic parts. Welcome! I'm an NES kid myself!

Haha awesome man u know it. NES!
most of the parts are made in China anyway, just paying double or triple for an american company to make a few bucks on it
so a 4400 would be too strong a motor?

True, and yes in my opinion. 3300kv or so is perfect in the opinion of most, but I still prefer the good ol' Johnson 540. 8)

I'm a Commodore 64 kid (so I guess I'm aging myself, lol). I have a used a 4600 kv and currently have a 5700 kv motor. Both were wicked fast = fun.

The difference is that when you buy a product from a US based company, everything but the cost of that Chinese part stays here. I sure wish there were more US based companies but it seems we've become too cheap and too greedy for that to be a realistic dream. I gotta admit, I've bought many of the Gensace batteries as the deal was just too good to pass up at around $32 for a ROAR approved 2s.

I've been racing with the Tacon motors, Hobbywing ESC (35A and 60A) and Gens Ace 2s lipos for two years now and no failures. They are great for the budget minded person.....like me.
