Hi all

Recently got hold of a RC10 worlds chassis, used but good condition. My question is Ive stripped a black team chassis using caustic soda before and the results were not good. If I want to get this thing re annodised would it be a problem if i got the current chassis bead blasted to remove the annodising or would that cause a problem when I get it re-annodised?

I sand blasted mine and it turned out good after the anodizing. It was not as glossy as the original black but it looked good. You really need to sand it down well to get all the scratches out. Powder coating is nother option.

If you Google search "how to anodize aluminum" you will find a bunch of links and how-to stuff, and even companies that sell home brew kits. The process is somewhat involved, and can be expensive if you send your part out somewhere to be done. The aluminum part needs to be stripped of it's old anodized layer, it can be done with a specific chemical. Anodizing doesn't hide blemishes, the parts need to be sanded, buffed, polished, etc. for best results. You may want to consider having a bunch of parts anodized at one time because of the overall cost of the service.

You can use eazy off oven cleaner or a number of other chemical cleaners can be bought at a hardware store. You just have to keep an eye on the parts so they dont get ruined.To get a really good anodized finish you will have to polish the aluminium parts. Lots of guys here have done this. depending on the place you take your parts to they could do the whole stripping, polishing process for you. Powder coating works really good,but if you plan on running it a powder coated motor plate doesn't dissipate heat as well as an anodized one. Have fun with the build I love building these things.
