Hello! just thought i would introduce myself and show my latest purchase. My name is Dave, i,m 25 and from Scotland, this will be my first running rc car. I had a Kyosho Sandmaster that i bought off a mate when i was at school, but i never got it running.

So i started looking at RC10,s and found a nice one on epay, i won it 8)

I,m going to restore/slightly upgrade this, brushless/lipo etc.

I will have loads of questions to ask. Can anyone reccomend a good transmitter? I was looking at the Spektrum DX3

Here is the car

The ebay link seems to just show your car for a split second, then go to the main page. I think it's because the auction has ended. Either that, or your car is so fast that you can't see it for long... I guess we can hope for the later.

Good luck with the rebuild!

Hey guys! yea i think i did not too bad on the car, the underneath seems pretty scratch-free. This is just a small update.

So been busy buying stuff/researching things. Here is the parts i have bought so far...

Some spare parts from ebay for the car, E clips, screws/bolts, spur gear etc
Spektrum DX3 transmitter from ebay with receiver
Turnigy 5000mah lipo,s X2
EZ run 35A ESC with 13t 3000kv brushless motor (which has to get sent back as one of the fan wire has come un-soldered)
Batteries for the transmitter/ receiver battery pack

Really looking forward to getting this project started!! I,m waiting on the Rc10 arriving from the US, hopefully comes soon tho!

Things i still have to buy...
Body shell and wing maybe the Jammin Jay one!!
Lipo charger

One question about connectors from the battery to motor, which one should i go for?

Its takin shape. I like the deans connectors. Some guys don't like them since they are so small and not easy to get apart but are worth it.

Hey guys, i,m thinking of putting a stealth bo in this. I,m not sure if it has the mounting holes for the stealth, but if it hasn,t i dont mind drilling the chassis.

Can i buy one of those RPM gearboxes and fit stealth gears in if it is an older chassis without drilling it? like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RPM80551-2-65-Stealth-Conversion-Assoc-RC10T-/270829796269?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f0eb6bbad#ht_1255wt_952

That looks like it will clean up really nice! With that said, if it were mine I wouldnt drill the necessary holes for the stealth. From the looks of the chassis there are hardly any scratches and it would be a shame to drill such a nice example. There are plenty of stealth ready chassis on ebay for cheap! These A stamp chassis dont show up in this shape too often. I wouldnt even run it with the 6 gear tranny it has now. Wouldnt want to scratch it!

Just my opinion!

Upon further review, it appears to have a few extra holes drilled already so drill away!!!

Really? What might they be for?

Holes had to be drilled to get the battery cups to be amounted the way they are. That was never a factory layout/design.

Hey guys, bit of an update. My car is here!! its awesome! First thing i did when i got it was take the old receiver out, fit my 2.4ghz one, cut the ESC cables and solder on some Turnigy style ones, quickly set up the ESC and transmitter, taped a torch to the front of it and blasted up and down my street. Haha good times!! First time ever driving an RC car, wish i had one years ago!

I managed to drive it into the kerb twice quite fast due to being a noob, and the brake not working very well. It stank when i brought it back in the house
I gave the car a right good strip down and clean, was doing it until 2.30 am 8) I have fitted the Lipo, had to butcher the battery box a little tho

I have decided i want to put an Edinger? shell on it, the orange one with the wing.

Now for the questions!!

There is a lot of play in the steering, is there anyway i can improve this?
Is it advisable to service the gearbox?
Is it advisable to service the forks?
The front wheels are as wobbly as a weeble on ketamine can i fix these?
The motor feels really notchy, is this just the magnets repelling each other? should i lube the motor?
Decals, i want to build the car up like the pic on the front of my box, but every decal set i see is totally different to the pic, whats that all about then? example
