I think most of us agree when it's said that vintage Yokomo shocks suck...my 870c ones do anyway. They leak oil like a fresh off the lot Ford sorry Ford poeple

I was told to use a set of Associated Team shocks as a replacement. I got the front Team shocks apart and I'm about 1/4 the way through the rebuild when I was wondering what the general consensus was on piston size, oil weight and spring stiffness was???

Spring Stiffness: ?
Oil Weight: ?
Piston Size: ?

Since I have to go to my LHS for some o-rings, I will wait for a reply or two or three before continuing the rebuild.

As a last comment, weather you are just getting back into the hobby after 15 or 20 years or just starting out, ALWAYS rebuild your second hand shocks! At least then you know what wt oil is in them, and which piston you are working with and not to mention new o-rings will give you a nice good seal. OR don't, as long as I rebuild mine is all I really care

I just checked out some piston sizes and the old school associated piston (the one without markings) is the same as the new #1 piston. On my yoks I've built a few setups with associated shocks and have used either #1 or #2 pistons with 30 to 40wt oil and they all feel good on the cars. Obviously you'll have to make some changes once you hit the track but a good starting setup may be:

Front 0.56 shock - #1 or #2 piston with 40wt oil and green spring
Rear 1.02 shock - #1 or #2 piston with 35wt oil and green or black spring

I've built 30wt shocks too but they feel a little too soft (but again, without a track you can't say). If I remember correct pretty much everyone ran green springs with this setup.

I think xxx is right, but if you are using lipo's that are much lighter, then I would use 25 or 30 AE shock oil!

A little off topic. Anthony when are the battery straps coming in?

I just asked about that myself. They haven't showed up at my father-in-law's in VA yet. I will email puretech and see what the deal is...I hope I got the address correct, that would suck
