Got this off of a local fellow who never actually ran this because he never finished the build. It just collected dust for 25 years!! I tore it apart completely, cleaned, and rebuilt it. The only missing part is one dog bone in the back which I'll get eventually. This thing is 4WD and 4WS - very advanced for 1985!! Still need to paint the shell - or not... I think it looks good clear too Thoughts/comments?

White would really make the decals pop. Nice looking car by the way. I love my Gallop!

I don't understand why people ask what color they should paint something...it's subjective. I like blues & greens, but someone else doesn't. I think brown & yellow are the ugliest colors...but other people love them. So pick a color that suits you.

I would suggest, due to the large number of stickers covering that body, that you stick with only 1 or 2 colors. Anything more complex would only be obscured by all the stickers.

I agree on the 1-2 colors - I also agree on the white idea. So in this case these subjective ideas are perfect...

I'll add some red along the bottom of each side and along the sides of the wing. That should look good.

an antique gold with the red would look nice

I use to be a Fan of the Gallops but im over them now.

I think a lick of paint will make it look better. Clear doesn't make the decals stand out.

I have had a real interest in getting myself a Gallop Mk2 for years, so I bought a few plus some new spares so I could finish up with a nice example. Luckily I ended up with 2 really nice cars which are a dream for me to build.
Sadly sold my nicest of the 2 (pictured) but still have a very nice runner.

This was as close as I could get to box art scheme. Just thought I'd share it with you so you can figure out a scheme that suites you-

Thanks Marc. Truly an over-engineered car thats for sure. Not that there is anything wrong with that because to me that is what is so uber cool about the Mk2 for me.
Sadly whilst it looks a million bucks I was not overly impressed with the way mine drove. I found the 4WS to be a little too hard to drive (even with a stock 540 motor).
Still, one of those cars I simply had to have and gratefully still do own. I'll need to paint up the lexan for my second car and fit my NIP tyres to the rims.

You have found yourself a very nice example there also very fortunate too. I spent nearly 12 months searching but couldn't find a new built and NIB was just too far out of my budget.
These sure are cool cars and some very Kool engineering and thought went into the designs. Much like the original Rocky this was one if those cars from the mid 80's that really spoke to me.

Hey Breck,

I have a few of these - and I have to say that I reckon it looks brilliant with the body clear!! Nothing looks as cool as a "see through" model (IMHO).........and the Gallop is certainly one that has allot of cool "period" engineering and complexity to show off.

I reckon if it is going to be a display car only - go with the clear............or - for something completely different - go with half painted - half clear.........that would also look killer.

Darryn - I actually bought some paint but I keep hearing a voice in my head saying I shouldn't paint it. So I'm moving on to other projects (Monster Beetle) for now and will come back to this one later.
