Hi folks. New here, been lurking for a few weeks. What a great forum. Some of you have some sweet builds. Me, I'm a basher, but I can definitely appreciate the time and effort put into some of your rides. I especially like the hand-built tube chassis conversions! I am also amazed at all the different hop-up part families there are for this darn thing.

This spring, I found the old RC box at the parents house and brought it home. Ah, the memories! The old hornet/grasshopper combo was the only thing left, but I got that running. Its not fast, doesn't handle well, but it was sure a trip back in time! After that, I headed to ebay to buy the RC10 I drooled over as a yout. Picked up a reasonable runner with old electronics, added a few "too old for racing" 3300 packs donated by a friend, and here we are today! That old gold pan is as much fun as I imagined it, even 20 years later.

I attached some pics of the gold pan and the old hornet (sorry, backwards order!) My plans now include another gold pan, this time set up with some pavement tires. Then I'll have one for off-road & one for on. After that, it's time to restore my dad's dumas hotshot .45 boat!

EAU, yup, Bartlett is a stone's throw from St. Charles. I'm a Chicago 'burbs native.

Mr. Ed, I actually got a period pistol grip with this car, and then swapped xtals with the stick radio that was tied to the hornet. My daughter liked the wheel better & I prefer sticks. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Ferretti, the car in the avatar is a 1967 Chevy Camaro. It was the end of my teenage RC activities. Thanks for the nice comments. Warmed over 327, T5 manual trans conversion, 12-bolt rear, 4-wheel disks. You might notice the similarity between the red on that car and the red on my buggy

Plenty of people with stick radios around.
But that specific radio you got is about 15 or more years old and a 4-channel. That's why I'm surprised to see anyone else using this specific one still.
It's a good radio though: mine still does it job very well.
