My JRX2 and JRX-T's

Post by huminski »

Just signed up here, although I've been reading posts for a long time through google searches, etc. :)

Figured I'd share my old Losi collection.

First up is the car that got me back into old Losi's. When I was about 13 or 14 I bought myself a brand spankin new JRX2, along with the obligatory Novak T4 and I forget what motor. Was an awesome car, obviously. Later in high school I lent it to a friend of a friend and that was the last I ever saw of it. It was converted to onroad, laid the front shocks down, foam tires, and an awesome Camaro lexan shell. :)

About 10 years ago I stumbled on a pretty much mint JRX2 rolling chassis. Grabbed it. Over the next 10 or so years I stared at it, cleaned it up here and there, picked up some parts now and then, and finally this summer I decided that it was going to be a resto-mod runner.

TeamblueGroove body, wing and gear cover was ordered and painted. Slapped in a Novak Atom ESC and a Trinity P2K2 Pro motor I had lying around, and finished up with FM Futaba radio gear and a hi torque steering servo (Futaba 9303). Turnigy 5000mah 2S lipo makes it go.

Here she is:

Next up is a JRXT that I bought shortly after I found the first JRX2 chassis. This was a runner when I got it, although it was remarkably clean. This is my daughters truck, she loves it. It is currently out of commission, you can see it had some aftermarket motor plate, the threads are stripped that attach it to the transmission. Stripped it down and cleaned it up. So sooner or later I will pick up another plate and get it back on the road. This was running a Novak T4 and the good old Trinity Monster Horsepower can originally, swapped in some other 27T can in the pic below. :)

And finally, Here's a nice JRXT I picked up this summer. Chassis was in great shape, had a Reedy 12T triple in it, but the poor little motor couldn't keep up with my 5000mah lipos and it smoked. I have just recently transplanted a Castle Sidewinder 5700KV combo into this one. Lots of fun, but need to be careful since there is no slipper. I ran a 12T pinion once, and first grab of the throttle just ripped the teeth off the spur. Currently running a 90T spur with an 18T pinion, so far so good.

Pictures are from a couple weeks ago, when it was running a Novak Tempest ESC and some unknown 27T silver can motor:

PS - Earlier this week I picked up UltraHIVE's Advanced Racing JRx2 onroad pancar conversion. Looking forward to adding it to the collection! Going to outfit this one with all period-correct electronics and goodies and it will be the crown jewel of the little collection. This pic was after I got the roller in the mail and threw some electronics I had lying around in it:

Here she is all dolled up with a Custom Works wide Camaro IROC body. Newest addition to this one is all later-vintage electronics, a Novak Cyclone ESC, Novak Rx, and a Losi Revolution motor. Cheating a little though, running two 2650mah 2-cell lipos in place of the nimh hump pack. Freaking FLIES!!!!

Nice rides. I really like the colored tubing on the turnbuckles. Adds a little pop to the look of the cars.
