I was working on my rc10 today. I noticed it had a ton of bump steer. I tryed adding some ballstude washers to the steering knuckles and it got rid of some but there is still a lot. Any one have any solutions?

can you lower the steering bellcrank?

dont think so. im running the mip bb setup. no washers under it or anything.

is it one of the cars in your thread in the rc10 forum? if so, which one?

Wild stab in the dark here - could it be tires and / or shocks? On a real car, the suspension setup is usually the culprit for a bump steer situation. Tire compound can affect it a bit too.

i don't have any of the old style mip bellcranks to look at. but on the newer ones, the top of them are shaved down to lower the ball stud. maybe there's enough material on those to do it.

on a few of my cars, i've had to raise the ballstud at the knuckle quite a bit. 3/32" or more. a tub chassis with an rps/losi bellcrank and 30 degree castor blocks is the worst.

as long as you can get a full nut on the bottom, lift is as much as needed. you could also try using the "special" ball studs on the bellcranks side only....... as long as they don't bind. the ball height is lower than a standard associated ball stud.

alright thanks. i currently have 2 ball stud washer on it now and still have a lot of thread left cause i already put a long ball stud. maybe i will put some more and see what happeneds. I just did not know if there was a point of having to many washers

He's referring to front toe variation when suspension moves, which is the common way we look at "bump steer" in RC You are referring to the (correct) way of defining bump-steer by its handling effects on the car...

There is some bump-steer on the rc10... to reduce it, the key is to mirror the front suspension hinge architecture with your steering links. Steering links angling in between lower arms and upper links, with their length equal to the average of both.

Doesn't necessarily mean your rc10 will handle any better though... cliff and the boys did a good job bitd
