Re: Carbon Fiber Sheets?
The standard going rate for say quasi-isotropic .117 3k plainweave is about $145 in the standard market, unless you get 10-100 panels. Cost is all about volume in cf

Component grade stuff can be cheaper. Jake found some from a one off guy, check with him and I'm sure he will get you the info!

Re: Carbon Fiber Sheets?
I got some small scraps from an eBay store selling specifically carbon fiber stuff, for quite cheap. But we're talking 3 to 4" square. The bigger stuff was much more expensive.

Re: Carbon Fiber Sheets?
I contacted a guy off eBay and had a specific panel made. I ended up with a 12 x 24, 3mm, double sided panel for $100. This is about as cheap as it gets. I can't tell you how many people I talked to including Reg on this subject.
The guy made the panel for me and when I got it, it was slightly warped. I was still able to use what he sent but I would have rathered a perfectly flat panel. When I say warped it wasn't bad but was noticable until I cut my parts out of it.
My panel was also filled with glass on the inside too to keep cost down. Hope this helps. Just remeber most of the panels I came across were only one sided. Make sure if you are looking for double sided, to read the descriptions carefully. I almost bought the wrong stuff when I first started looking.

Re: Carbon Fiber Sheets?
It blows my mind that there's not an easy source considering all the r/c parts that are made from it. Guess we shouldn't take CF parts so much for granted. Luckily I suck and can't fabricate anything on my own anyway...

This stuff is not cheap at all. I wish it was more affordable.

I tried making an aluminum shock tower for a DS a number of years ago and I just came across it the other day. It looked like the only tool I used was a spork.THEYTOOKMYTHUMB wrote:It blows my mind that there's not an easy source considering all the r/c parts that are made from it. Re: Carbon Fiber Sheets?
Shoulda used a thpoon. Not sure what it means, but I took a pic of a snake in my backyard about 4 years ago and it took a year of asking to get an I.D. on it. I had a couple of "experts" or "exthperths" tell me it was a brand new species! I was so excited because that meant I got to name it. "thnake" was my name. Imagine the snake world excitedly speaking of a thnake! Sadly it was identified as a common garden snake with an abnormal scale pattern (probably from the plutonium I keep buried in my backyard for when I perfect my flux capacitor). Now that I'm ending it, I'm not even sure what this post was in response to...Lowgear wrote:It looked like the only tool I used was a spork.![]()

P.S.: I have a pic of the thnake on a back-up portable hard-drive around here somewhere. I'll have to look it up for reference.
