What saved your shelf queen?

I got a perfect early JRX-2 from a member here and after receiving it I cleaned the dust off, the shock shafts ( love that old Losi water based shock fluid ) and it seemed odd that this car was built in 89' then never touched. The one key might be those great  early thin shock collars he cracked every one of them, and even broke the one on the L/R in 1/2 not allowing the car to sit even. Maybe that's why this one was never touched, and it made me wonder how many others have come into our collections with similar things?

Most of my shelfers are a result of me taking up opportunities from people who are suddenly needing to shed their collection in exchange for cash. It's rather sad really, but I've been it the same position myself so I guess its all part of the hobby. 8)

Two of my shelf queens are the manufacturer's show cars. Both were taken to trade shows and displayed with one later being used for spare race parts. The third show car is a Marui Samurai that appears to be run once or twice (based on tire wear and no damage). Not sure who owned it but the person placed servo savers on the steering and wiper speed control. I also received a Marui Shogun that was never finished (but missing the body and battery tray) with the Samurai that also had dual servo savers on it.

For my bone stock RC10... The only car I hadn't built from parts, I'm assuming a lack of interest, loss of free time, or quick loss of novelty saved that car. Run once or so and then stuffed in a closet somewhere to be rediscovered some 20 years later and sold on ebay.

I have a couple rc10t2 without tranny gears or axles. I suspect that someone had a GT, and took a couple parts from the t2 to fix their GT and then the t2 sat untouched. One of these t2 i bought on ebay, the owner said he bought it at a vintage clothing store (he had very little knowledge of rc cars)... maybe someone traded it for some acid wash jeans.
