YZ-834B Restoration
Posted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:33 pm
I've had this Yokomo YZ-834B three years and finally got around to completing its restoration. Even though there were some missing and broken parts (and quite a bit of dirt), the general condition was very good and the drive train looked like new. That's quite amazing, considering that this car was raced.
The missing/broken parts were sourced from an incomplete car that I bought on eBay.
Modifications and Upgrades:
-- Trinity carbon fiber chassis (thanks to 59burst for the brand)
-- Hot Trick gold roll bar
-- CRP lengthened mono shock mounting plates
-- Delta slipper
-- aluminum lower A-arms (brand unknown)
-- Associated gold shocks
-- full bearings
-- Mr. Lexan RPS Yokomo body and decals
-- You-G tires on original Yokomo rims OR Pro-line tires on 2.2" Yokomo rims (with 1/4" thick machined spacers)
The chassis has a bunch of extra holes from previous owners' various exercises in steering servo mounting; I went with RC10 servo blocks.
As with all my cars, this is a runner (occasionally...on grass...no big jumps
). The weight is low, so it really flies with the Yokomo stock motor and 2s lipo. Lots of fun.
Before shots are in the second post.
