Schumacher BIBX Tyres

I've found some new, old stock Schumy BIBX tyres (U6574Q-BIBX) in my tyre box.

I've heard the BIBX compound was developed by Schumacher for the 93 worlds in Basildon, and they feel crazy soft. I read that they're so soft that they barely last 1 run.

What i'd like to know is, has anyone ever run these? Also does anyone know what other BIBX types were available, as i'd like to get a set of rears and stick them onto my Cougar 2 works for a bit more period charm :D

Paul.

Hi Paul

I have a pair of U6563F-BIBX which has "Hi profile 2.2 Front Minispike" written on the tyre and have the orange dot.

Others i have seen on ebay are U6575 Rib front & your U6574 2x20 stud slim

Is the orange dot a sign of BIBX as i have a pair of very soft U6589F Flat stubby spike orange rears but they do not state BIBX

Hope this helps

John

I ran for Schumacher at the 93 worlds in Basildon. I didn't run those particular tires, but the compound was great. The two best tires there were schumacher and proline. The tires would last 2-3 runs, the biggest problem was the spikes being torn off by the cracks in the track  . In 4wd, Schumacher had 3 or 4 of the top 5 qualifying spots -good cars and tires. As far as the part #, I don't remember. However the tread design is the same as whatever the popular Schumacher tire is on the european grass tracks currently. Hope this helps. -Jeff

Thanks for that Jeff.

Did the whole Schumacher team run the BIBX compound, or did some use the prolines? I'll have to keep an eye out for some BIBX minispikes, although i'm betting they'll be harder to find.

That's useful John, thanks. I'm assuming the Hi profile front minispikes are what the team would have used in 4wd. As for the dots i'm not sure, it's possible as all the other seem to have an orange dot.

Paul.

There were a few american team drivers that ran the Proline Stubbies at the event. But none of the schumacher cars were faster than with the schumacher tires. -Jeff
