Hi all:

I got one of these Pro-Line Tuber chassis on closeout and I had all of these B2 parts lying around, so I thought I'd take a stab at combining the two. It's based on an idea I got from a TamiyaClub member named "ChicagoBob," so this isn't a completely original concept.

I still have a lot of work to do on this one. Ol' Willy needs to be permanently situated and given a steering wheel. Also, the RPM lights are not permanently installed yet, and I need to come up with a more robust front bumper arrangement.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures. My apologies for the poor photos; I hope to take some better outside versions this week.

They look like narrowed HPI Maxxis TREPADOR on the front and standard width in the back
on standard SC wheels

Thanks guys! The comments are much appreciated!

Yes, the links to the Pro-Line tuber chassis and body panels are correct, however, keep in mind that Pro-Line has discontinued both products. So, if you find them and you like the concept, grab 'em while you can.

The front and rear wheel/tire combination are HPI Maxxis Trepador tires and Pro-Line Split Six wheels -- ProTrac fronts and Slash rears. The HPI tires and Pro-Line wheels are cut down in the front to give a more realistic, narrower track. The rears are standard, off-the-shelf purchases. As you can see, I am NOT an expert tire cutter/re-gluer! There are folks on this forum and elsewhere who do a MUCH BETTER, cleaner job.

The driver is in fact a Wild Willy driver and the parts tree he comes on can still be purchased. I custom-built Willy's "seat" and the dashboard -- easy stuff with the parts supplied with the chassis and some sheet styrene.

I'll get some better pictures taken this week, along with a photo of how I attached the cage. The front shocks are cheap Tamiya CVAs I had in my parts bin that I mounted directly to the Tuber chassis. The geometry isn't perfect, but I couldn't fit the shocks to the B2 shock tower and get the chassis to sit correctly in the front. I could probably stand to make some custom shock mounts for the front, so I can fit some taller shocks with more travel.

Thanks again! There are TONS of talented people on this forum, so your kind words mean a great deal to me.

Looking great. I'd also love to see how you mounted it to a chassis.

Wow, one of my favorites in a while. The ground clearance on that will make it a blast to drive! I wouldn't change a thing. Including not giving him a steering wheel. It will be like he's saying "WTF?" every time you take off.

Is this the chassis? If so I think I'm going to get one because this is really cool and I have a ton of B2/B3 stuff laying around.
