I went to a local on-road race (parking lot asphalt) today and decided to run my rc10 with some old bolink rear foams and f104 front foams (crp axles). The car was fast (10x4) and handled
pretty good...Good enough to spark up a convo. about starting up a
buggy based road course class.
Open rules,must be 2wd buggy chassis.

What should I do for tires and suspension?
I have the crp adapters for pan car rears and I am fairly good
at modding stuff.
Shocks/towers/arms ect. Want to keep the 3 gear stealth trans and gold pan.
Pics. would be a +.

Front body mount from angle aluminum, rear mount is a CRP part (I think they may still be available on Ebay.) Rear tire is an old pair of proline strikers now discontinued, fronts are blue pan car premounts. I used to race "gearbox class" back in the day and no suspension mods were really necessary. Just drive it.

Any idea for a rear rim/tire combo. if I want to take advantage of the crp "pan car" tire adapters?

Tomorrow or tuesday I'm going to try to swing by my LHS to see about fitting on road wheels on my gold pan. I've been looking into some of the tamiya wheels and tires and *fingers crossed* I'll be able to find something that will be easily adaptable.

I bought some Mini-T 1/10 wheel adapters from ebay. They only needed slight reaming in the center, and the front bearings were a direct fit. That way, I can use touring rims/tires for onroad. Take a look at the HPI vintage rears. They're 31mm and are very proportional to the car.

It sounds like you're looking to run buggies converted to more of an onroad car. What we do is a little different, so this may not be much help to you. We run a tarmac buggy class at during our summer onroad season. Mostly 4WD buggies, but sometimes I run my RB5. The tires we've found to work best on a sugared asphalt surface are old worn buggy/dirt tires, (the softer the better) with buggy grip or something similar applied to the rubber. Traction is very high! We run the tires until they literally fall off the rims. (halfway through this race, you can see the rubber on one of my wheels expanding to close to a foot in diameter... it completely wore through, and was split all the way around the entire tire.

We don't usually have jumps, but once in a while we put small ones on the track for the heck of it. Other than that, all we do is put in a thicker oil, some heavier springs, and drop it closer to the ground. It's a lot of fun!

The 104 fronts work good.
Wild body (maybe a late model)
I have been looking at some of the older oval conversions.
I think something similar will work good.
Just need to get some ideas to get on the right track.

I do have a belt drive trans but would HATE to tear it up...

btw,I do have a set of those hpi vintage tires.
They look the part but I dont think they will work too good on a overpowered 2wd buggy.

Russ, good idea... I'll give it a try for cheap tires.

I used mini scale touring tires to crudely cap 1/10 scale used foams.
